Over the last few weeks mine's polyps have gone from red to light orange.
All polyps in new growth areas are neon green.
The body is the same color and no other corals in the tank have shifted colors.
Doesn't bother me, just weird.

Here is an iPhone pic.

It sounds like you have a rainbow Monti to me if the polyps on the edge are green

Sent using Tapatalk, stay thirsty my friends.

Definitely a superman.
Got it from docwells years ago.
It was red and blue for years.

I thought I had a superman as well. Always blue and red. Then it showed it's true colors. Rainbow Monti. Have you changed your bulbs or done anything different lately?

I changed all my t5's yesterday.

I had my (thought to be superman) in a nano tank with a 70 watt halide for 2 years. I set up a new tank last year with a halide t-5 combo and within a week or so I noticed the change. A day seems quick though. Lol! Keep us updated time will tell. :)

I'd say you have a Rainbow as well. The irony is that I have a Rainbow that refuses to grow the neon yellow (green) polyps now and the blue is slightly dingy. So it looks like a beautiful Superman...but I know it's a rainbow cause it has had the other colors from time to time.

All of my encrusting monteporas have color changed since I first got them. Sunset went from orange with green polyps to orange&purple with green&yellow. Reverse sunset went from green with orange to all kinds of yellows, reds and oranges on the new growth. And my Rainbow monte never can seem to make up it's mind on new growth but the old growth is a constaint baby blue with green polyps

I have noticed over the years the Mg levels seem to make a difference on montepora colors and brightness. If my sunset gets dull, its a good chance it's time to add test and Mg.

i think the color changing is fairly routiine for montis especially but i have had almost all of my sps change their colors at least a little bit since i got them

I've had the "original" Superman almost since isseym328 got it back in '02, and have distributed innumerable frags of it... you could see shots of it in '04 in my first TOTM... I've never seen or heard of the polyps changing colors as shown in your photo... keep in mind that just because it was red and blue did not mean it was the Superman...

For some history... here's a thread explaining the history of the good ole "red and blue danae"... it's original name... :D

And the original selling thread for it... a huge wild colony put in an 18 gallon... :D

All your photos of rainbow montis are gorgeous and I WISH mine was like that.
Today I noticed that all the polyps are now lime green.
One standard color all the way through.
I think the new lights just made it morph.

Beautiful monti's psteele, excellent job.

Where are yours located Sean? I had mine under LED's and they kept the blue/red combo. When I switch to T5's, I had it near the sandbed and it lost the bright blue. I have since moved it up and the blue is starting to comeback.

I've always had it on the bottom of a 24" deep tank.
It has completely changed to fluorescent lime-green polyps.
If it holds I will give it a fancy name like "Blueberry Lemonade" and charge $3,000 per .5" frag. :D

In my case the polyps changed from bright red to dull brown and i am not sure why....
It is growing and the body is still in bright purple

Any thoughts?

I'll add that since using bio pellets all my montes have changed to be less vibrant then before. I'm not sure if it's a reduction of N03, or reduction of nutrients; or, maybe a side effect of increased bacteria counts or something the pellets release (like polymers). This is true for all my SPS but more so for the montes.

The montis color change has ended.
It's been the same color for a couple weeks noe.
I must admit that I like it better than before.
Whereas when it was a "superman" it was ok now the whole piece pops.
Flouesces like crazy under actinide now.
