anyone ever been here?

I went there today to check it out, turns out they're just down the street from me. very small place, I was in and out within a 3 mins time I think. I did not see any tanks for sale other than the typical JBJ Nano Cubes. They did have a couple of reef display tanks that looked healthy though.

I wasn't really impressed of the place.

I went in couple days ago, since it was only two blocks out of my way while running around the other day. It is a pretty small store but not as small as some. Pretty messy, but I have seen worse LFS. The fish looked reasonably healthy, but I did not look real close as he didn't have anything I was looking for.
Most of their corals were not marked, price wise. They did have two big display tanks with corals for sale in them. They looked better then a lot of the corals at some of the more popular places around. I picked up a nice Blue polyped gorgonia at a very reasonable price.
They obviously do not stock all the tanks they list in their adds, unless they have a big back room somewhere. They gave me there advertised price on a 24 Nano cube, which is $30.00 less then anywhere else. gave me an extra $1.00 and change just to round my total off to and even $220.00 with tax. In short I would stop in again, if I was reasonably close by or needed a nano cube again.

so they dont have tanks laying around to see what they look like hugh... thats the reason i was going to drive there but if there is nothing for me to look at then there is no point in me going...

Lavera and IsaaX did you see the/any fabrication area in the store?

They dont have tanks there. I think his cousin works at one of the aquarium manufacterers. all his tanks are custom made pretty much that i know of. last time i was there he did have one 300g tank there that you can look at.

Yup, no fab area or tank show room like Tong's.

I agree with laverda though, the coral they had did look healthier than other places, probably because they are kept in display tanks with good lighting rather than holding bins with light that is a mile high from it.
I would say the size of the store is about a quarter of the size of Jeff's in Costa Mesa.

some pics of tank. not very good but maybe helpfull to you.

The prices are walk-in coupon prices only, and can only be used for ONE item, which needs to be special ordered (tanks & fish), with a deposit. Do you really think they can get a Acan Lord instantly for $9.99, they say small specimen of course (you think they make a call and say, yep, will be fedexed here by tomorrow)? I've been there. They lie on the phone to get you to come in, then call it a misprint and verbal misunderstanding ("You must have misunderstood" "Yeah, but I specifally asked about the price and availability in 5 different ways, and I talked to 2 other guys besides you" "Whatever. How far did you drive? This is the price, you want it or not?"
These guys really, really suck. I'm shocked they are still in business.

exactly... thats how I got lured in when I purchased a 60g back in the day.

How many threads are going to show up from this "store" with GREAT prices?? This must be the 3rd thread in 6 months about this place.

This store should be BLACK-BALLED!!!

i started this thread for Sean.. the reason was to see how well their acrylic tanks are built... the one person who actually had his large tank built by them likes the tank... but i guess they outsource their tanks so there is nothing really to see in the store..

this thread isnot about how they sell fish as no lovestock is going ot be purchaed by Sean. These guys have a wholesell account and order fish on a "prepay" basis... thats fine but BUYER BEWARE...

back to the topic at hand...Acrylic tanks, Sean is looking at a purchasing a very large 500-800 gallon tank... if anyone has seen a tank made by them please let me know what you think of the quality of their work... No extras will be purchased by Sean.. just a tank... So long as Sean gets the price of the TANK ALONE WITH NO EXTRAS IN WRITTING i think he should be fine.

But i dont think i would get livestock from these guys...

I guess these guys are like glass cages either you love them or you hate them..

thank you all for your comments...

Sean what are you thinking?

And if something goes wrong, do you think a store with such crooked business practices is going to be there to help out?

The problem with dealing with crooks is that they are crooks rain or shine.

how about print out the price from their website and go to fish and coral center in Costa Mesa, they will do the price match for you. I just buy the 60g tank from them yesterday with the same price as show on those guy website

I was skeptical when I went in after reading this thread. I was fully prepared to not get the price they advertised. In which case I would have made a phone call to the local District attourny and filed a complaint. As I said, I had no problem. Sorry to hear others have.

thats true nicole but if your tank is well built you wont have to worry about customer service... i wont buy a 800 gallon tank from a company that has great customer service but only OK craftmanship on their tanks... God forbid an 800 gallon tank crashes what can the manufacturer do.. say sorry, we will build you another one, well what about the $10 grand in live stock and damages! Once a tank is passed the warranty date we are all on our own...

i think that a 500-800 gallon tank may be passed "price matching"

Thanks for all the help and time you've spent on this for me Gabriel! I'm still looking for a 600 to 800 gallon tank and these guys have by far the best prices on 10 foot tanks. The 180 pictured above looks like it has good seems and the owner is happy with it. I don't like the other implications though of these guys. They sound very shady but I'm not looking for anything other than a good tank at a fair price.
I may be better off having the tank built locally. I'll pay a bit more for it, but there will be some peace of mind with it though and I know the fabricator will do an excellent job, if he's willing to build such a large tank for me in the first place.
Thanks again Gabriel and all others who have responded with useful information and experiences.

This may be no help but a guy here on RC got his 120'' tank made by advanced aqua tanks here in socal. think his name is chuck and rc sn is moonpod. Hope it helps. they are wholesale so you will have to find a retailer or something like that to get the tank...
