Anyone ever seen a Flame Angel nip @ Dendros?

I have a flame angel and once and a while it would go and nip at the dendros. Which causes them to close up. But he isn't constantly picking at it, just once a while. Is there a way I can stop this behavior?

I have had the dendros for 2 weeks and everything has been fine I just noticed the flame swimming by and decided to nip at it. So I hope he will stop

HI

If it is not the Dendro, it will be the clam, the leather coral, the colt coral.....etc.
There is no such thing as a 100% reef safe angel. You may want to try to feed more algae, but still there is no guarantee that the flame angel will stop picking at a coral

Ah thats a bummer, My dad really loves the flame angel. So its hard for him to give it up. The dendros been in there 2 weeks no problem. But the angel just recently just messed with it. However I did notice the angel only pick at the sweepers when they are partly out. but when they are fully out he ignores them.

I've had a flame angel in my SPS tank for years, Jens is right about angels never being perfect. Because he's only niping from time to time you may want to wait him out and see how it goes. My one tends to nip at new stuff on and off for a while then go on his way.

Unfortunately, angels (IMO) just aren't a good choice for a reef tank. Some people don't seem to have many problems, but for the most part, they are going to pick at things. I've tried adding angels before, and it just wasn't worth the headache. Although sometimes, fish that aren't considered "Reef-safe" can work out in a reef, (I have a trigger in my reef tank with no problems whatsover) it just goes on a case-by-case basis, but if you're having problems with your angel picking on corals, I would say that your best bet is to just remove the angel from the system.
