Anyone fixes Kessil 360WE before?

Yes, that is what I was told.

This is my opinion after opening it. Spraying with a can only, you might push the build up to the heat sink and in the long term make it worse than not blowing at all.

So just spraying canned air into the vents is inadequate? Kessil recommends actually opening the units to clean periodically? Mine is brand new so I haven't tried anything yet.

Btw, the way they were built, all you need to do is to open the 2 screws in the front and use a small flat screw driver and press on the 2 holes, 1 at a time and then push the glass cover of the light to remove the case from the light to....Do it once and it is not so much difficult...:-)

I'm surprised Kessil wants customers taking apart the lights. You'd think that would void the warranty or something. I had wondered that the dust would just get blown around inside. Seems easy enough to open up.

WARRANTY

KESSIL warrants, to the original buyer, all of its products to be free from defects in both workmanship and material for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty extends to all products which have proved defective through normal use but excludes products that have been damaged, disassembled, modified, misused by the buyer or any other person. This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, and KESSIL disclaims all warranties expressed or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or arising from the course of dealing between the parties or usage of trade.

KESSIL will replace or repair to proper working condition any products that are returned under warranty. Products repaired or replaced under warranty are only warranted for the remaining unexpired period of time of the original warranty.

Most wouldn't need cleaning in a year.. After that you are on your own anyways..

good point. I called when the light was over 2 years old... so I am not sure if that made a difference. Besides, I agree with Jeff ^^^^^

At least you Americans get 2 year warranty. Up here in Canada we only get 1 year. I am not sure how to read this customer service. I mean, they are excellent when you are with in the warranty period, after they really provide no help or support. I just threw out 3 dead 360we that where maybe less than 2 years old when they died. Like others has state, once out of warranty you are on your own, but really that is not much as there is no parts you can buy or repair centre. I am not buying this not worth it to repair, just buy a new one attitude. I love the look of kessil but this after warranty issue is the very reason I will never buy another product from them. Almost every other manufacture you can either buy parts or get it repaired. Example AI, Ecotech, maxspect, all you can get replacement parts for. On top of that I find this company really doesn't support there products when they get to market. A pure example of this is the spectral controller, when they first talk about it, we where going to get all these future updates and features. Nothing has change pretty much since its release.

So far, I have had A few experience with the vendors and Ecotech remains the best in term of customer service.....

10 million years or something like that.

Funny how the Led companies been bragging how long there lights will last and now you do not have to buy any more bulbs, but then only give a year or two for the warranty.

Could you buy your stuff in the US and then drive back over the border?

I am saddened that Kessil is not honoring there product like they used to,

Question for the OP since you have opened up your Kessil is it easy to take apart and clean it? I do have a 160.

Hmmm. I've had my Kessils for 3 years now. I bought all of them used, had a problem with every single one and Kessil replaced every single one even though they were bought used. Ever since they have been replaced (3 years ago) I haven't had any issues (knock on wood). But any company that will replace 3 entire used units with brand spanking new ones, no questions asked, is pretty good in my book.

You do realize the fact that you had problems w/ "all of them" is pretty poor..
Secondly there is no obligation from Kessil to fix any free..so it can be a crap shoot. Get someone on a bad day and... well see start of this thread as an example..

You do realize all 3 were used and I have no idea how they were cared for or not cared for. That is not an indictment of Kessils quality of product. The fact that Kessil replaced all 3 at different times with no questions asked and no hassles at all is an endorsement to their customer service. A 3-3 win was a pretty good crap shoot. Besides search and you will see plenty of endorsements for their customer service. At least after cleaning like they originally suggested the OP's light worked as it should. Not sure why the OP got bad service but my experience with their service was quite the opposite....hence my post in this thread.

So why not put it on paper.. 3 yr warranty.. transferable..
not sure why you were so special.. ;)

I guess I won't be opening mine per the warranty, thanks oreo57. Why all the Kessil animosity if you don't mind my asking? I have always had excellent customer service when I've had questions. My buddy owns a LFS and uses several in the store for plants and corals and has zero problems with them. As far as the controller goes I hope they don't change it because I like its simplicity.

well the warranty thing is a more "general" rant. Kessil isn't the only company that does "selective" service on a whim. Been on both sides of this equation..

Questions are one thing.. spending money is another.. ;)
That said, just never been a fan (for reasons unrelated to this forum really)..:)

Point is if it isn't in writing.. your pretty well open to whims..
Well even the writing can be a bit "open to interpretation"..

I freely applaud Kessil for fixing for free lights that 1) were way out of warranty and 2)violate the "initial purchaser" clause.. just don't count on it..

o/p's experience is probably a reflection of "worst case" where cali9dub is best case..
I certainly wouldn't count on "best case"..
A retailer has a bit more clout in dealing w/ a problem inc. eating the repair themselves for "good will".. ind. not so much.

Like I said, general rant..How consistent or inconsistent a manuf. is is important .

Many have had replacements with no problem. Maybe everyone that got replacements is special and everyone who didn't is just ordinary.

The 360we is quite easy. The 160 is smaller and I don't have one at the moment to look at it I expect similarity in term of opening it for cleaning
