In May PGE is going to charge more for peak use time. I am thinking of switching my light cycle to night time

Atinincs-6pm-9am
MH-9pm-5am
Night lights on all the time

This may save me afew bones and with the summer coming up i will be out of the house more often.

Anyone else doing the same. I’m thinking of slowly starting the switch, just a few hours adjust each week till it is where I want it. Anyone see any problems to fish?

hey shane,

you got a link on the rate increase info?

I don't think I am going to change my light cycle much but I am going to do something to help reduce my pge bill. I think I will abandon the VHO's and maybe even the halides and go to T5 only. Not sure though. I got a vortech which will allow me to up plug several powerheads, but that is a relatively small savings. Also I might abandon the refugium since that runs a decent amount of light as well, although it is on a reverse cycle which would be off peak.

I would be concerned about the fish on a reverse lighting setup because mine wake up and start swimming around when the sun comes up, not when the lights flick on. i wonder if they would adapt if the lights were on at night??

If you are not on the new digital meter they can't charge you for peek time usage :) Thankfully they haven't changed mine out yet.

I see... I wonder if they are going to continue the 3 tier system as well and how that will play into peak usage charges?

Shane,

I run ny T5's 8 hours a day and Halides 6. I would start cutting back your lighting times.

I look forward to seeing your setup. You've done a lot of excellent work from what I've read. And I'm bringing some sweet frags for the raffle. While I predict / expect fewer attendees tomorrow, the quality of raffle frags will be high. There are 2 of the teal / pink eyed chalices (and more for the next two or three months!), in addition to some sps and zoanthids.
