So I really loved my H&S A-300 skimmer when it worked. The problem this thing has is they want hundreds of dollars for impellers. They custom make impellers for eheim pumps and no matter how often I cleaned these things they just kept breaking. I have been half heartedly looking for another skimmer and then I had an idea. It seemed like all the newer skimmers are using these bubble blaster pumps now. When I looked at pictures of the Bubble Blaster pumps I thought maybe there would be a way to retrofit this thing. I am not Mr Plumber so I figured I would turn to my friends on RC for some thoughts if it was possible.

Here is the skimmer with the Eheim pumps on it and then below that is a bubble blaster.

Google:"Venturi SKimmer"

you can make any submersible pump "venturi" by integrating an air source into the intake portion of the sump. IE the clear tubes leading from the pumps to open air in the pic you posted above.

Edit** didnt really read your question when i first posted...... The fittings look pretty similar. With a few pvc. reducers you should be able to make them match up pretty well. Just take them both to your local hardware/plumbing store and piece it together.

What about drilling this stuff? Is it hard? If you look at the new SRO it uses a Bubble blaster 10k and it feeds and pushed at the bottom. on 10K is rated for 1000 gallons. Is it difficult to drill into a skimmer and mae a seal so the pump could attach in a new place?

It's pretty easy to drill. You just need the right sized hole saw for the uni-seal(s). Although I would go the route of trying to use the Sicce pumps with the existing plumbing.

Problem is the Sicce does not give nearly the air the bubble blaster does. I was thinking i could get by with 1 bubble blaster vs 3 of the sicce..
