Anyone has Neon Blue Gobies in their reef tank?

I have one and he's no problem at all. Sometimes he tries to clean my clown fish but otherwise leaves the other fish alone.

is he the type that rests all over the rocks and coral? I have allot of swiming fish so he will fit in. I'm hoping to order a pair

What size is the tank?

I've always had at least one in my reef. I had a pair in my 34, and then my 65. Right now I just have one in my 125, but I will probably add a couple more when I can. Great little fish, completely reef-safe imo. The captive-bred ones don't seem to realize that they are cleaners, though...

Just making sure you weren't trying for a 10g or under nano, and that it was the tank in your sig :) . Two would be fine and I'm pretty sure you could easily do 4 or more.

2 would be fine, also have allot more other fish. Trying to keep them small now. I like to watch my rocks and polyps....................... fish will look real good moving around the rockwork. Already have swimming fish

Neon Gobies?

Neon Gobies?

I love these colorful energetic fish, I have two in my 46 bow and the larger one is always chasing the smaller one, great fish with good personalities. Alot of time is spent just resting on a rock crevice watching the world go by....I also have a yellow clown goby and a green red striped goby that are also good reef fish that perch on or in all the corals , perfect small splashes of color...

Mine perches a lot and darts around a bit. Mine cleans my fish even though it is captive bred. I guess it just depends. When I upgrade to a 65 gallon I hope to get some more. They are great little fish.

Also catalina gobies are from cooler waters than we keep our reefs at. They don't tend to live long in higher temperatures.

Only problem with them is they like to go down the over flow to your sump. Nice little fish other than that.

Thanks allot everyone for the info, Need to see what else my LFS can bring thats tiny yet colorful.

Reeferbill. I see you have a yellow clown goby? Is it true they nip on zoas and the polyps of SPS? I read that on liveaquaria

LOL, Mine did that very thing the first night in his new home. Took nearly two weeks to get him out of my sump(its full of LR). I caught him sleeping in the open early one morning and was able to net him. Since his re-release into the display he has yet to make another trip downstairs.
I have tried keeping two before but it never worked out and this is in a 210gal. I would love to have several but I'm afraid their cleaning behaviour would overly bother my other fish. The one I have now drives the other fish nuts trying to constantly clean them.

Absolutely do not get a Catalina Goby. They are a temperate species and will die in a reef system.
Also, how big is yer pygmy hawk? I worry about it possibly making a meal out of the Neon Goby.

The cleaners are great and a pair would be nice but don't expect to see a huge amount of the male. If it is anything like mine it was always tucked away tending eggs. They are also really easy to pair, just buy any two and they will sort it out themselves.

In a 220 gallon tank? Tons!

You can do a bunch of blennies, tons of different gobies, engineer gobies, dartfish, cardinalfish, fairy wrasses, possum wrasses, flasher wrasses, assessors, etc.

I already have some tangs, 5 pajama cardinals, 4 chromis, 5 bartlets, 2 solon wrasses, 1 carpenter wrasse, 1 royal gramma, 1 mandarin, 1 yellow banded possum wrasse, 1 geometric pygmy hawk, 1 algae blenny..................... i just wanted the neon gobies to close off the tank. Its 200+ gal DT, with a 60 gal sump
