Anyone have a 46g Bow Front?

Just curious if someone out there has a 46g bowfront (Oceanic of AGA probably doesn't matter, but if you could specify I'd appreciate it) and wouldn't mind taking measurements on the 2 sides? I think the measurement on the websites is the center of the tank, the sides are usually shorter.

I know it's an odd request and it's late, but if someone could do this for me I'll give you a cookie!

Thanks for the quick response.

Overall are you happy with the tank? I've been a bit disappointed with my 36, and even though a 46g isn't much of an upgrade it will give me the chance to improve upon my many mistakes :)

Do you have a sump for yours? And if so, did you drill your tank? And what size is your sump? I couldn't even fit a 10g in my stand :/

Could you tell me the side measurement and overall length of the stand too? Assuming you have the bowfront stand etc.

A 10 gallon tank will fit under at 46BF. It it tight but it will fit.

I did not drill or have a sump. I use the 10 gallon tank in my stand to mix my salt water. I use a hang-on skimmer and converted a AquaClear 110 to make a hang-on refugium.

I was looking to buy a 46 BOW, then i did more research and wanted a 72 BOW because of more space in the tank, now after further research i have decided not to buy a BOW tank at all since there is virtually zero room under the tank. I have now decided to purchase a 90 ga tank for plumbing reasons. It also givs you a lot more flexability. do so research and you will get teh same response. good luck.

what kind lighting are you planning to do?
if mh is your choice, you might want to think about center brace
and it's only 36in long compare to 48in for 72G. so you kinda limited
to put 1 mh instead of 2 and metal reflector would stick out of the tank due to 12~16in depth. Also, I can't have sump because no space in stand but I do run aquafuge large and hob skimmer which
works good

I have a 20g long under my 46g bowfront, and it fits quite nicely. Of course, I made my own stand, and it goes out another 3 1/2" on either side, so that gives me a little room. Not to mention the fact that I made it rectangular instead of following the natural contour of the tank. I don't know if you can buy a bowfront stand like this, but this is what I'm talking about:

Not counting the trim, the stand is 22" deep, 41" wide and 35" tall. As for the tank measurements, I got pretty much the same as Nyxe: 12.5" & 16.5". That's from outer edge to outer edge. I'm afraid I don't know the manufacturer of the tank.

At least part of my tank is tempered. It's probably just the bottom, but to be safe I went with a HOB overflow. Bowfronts can be a little tricky to drill, but many people have done it, so it's certainly a possibility.

I'm pretty happy with the tank. I really like the overall look, but there are at least a couple major drawbacks. First, cleaning the front glass is a bit more difficult. There's really no getting around getting your hands wet from time to time to manually scrape the glass, so you can go horizontally instead of vertically. Second is the distortion. Visually, it's not particularly noticeable, except perhaps at the very edges. If you like taking pictures of your corals, though, it's sometimes a challenge, especially towards the edges of the tank, where you'll almost always get some distortion.

Yea, I have a 36g tank and I'd really prefer not to get a bow front, but my size restrictions won't let me. A rectangular tank will still out from the wall about 6 inches blocking my closet. The bow front will only stick out some in the center which won't really get in the way of anything.

It's a downer, but them the breaks. First thing I do when I buy my own place is devote 4' of wall for my own personal use :)
