wow nice tank

Ohh.. sometimes :) It doesn't take much for it to take a turn. It's smallish (26G with a wee 5G sump) and being a seahorse tank, is slow in turnover. So, if I have just one snail go "over the rainbow" or neglect any of my routine husbandry (neglect during business travel etc), it quickly turns into a hair algae farm.

I also have a problem keeping grasses thriving. THOUGH, I've now met Sarah...and I'm hoping that this will help me break this barrier.

Finally, I'm tearing the tank down. I'm building a new one from acrylic that will hold close to 50 gallons. It's on hold until I finish my current project (yeah..I'm a Marine ADHD Patient) the in wall clam tank.

Eventually, the new tank will drain from the second floor, to the basement, into "Sumpzilla" and be pumped back up to the display.

oh I see. I know how bad hair algea is had it myself in my 29 gallon tank. I had to tear it down compleatly and set it up again to get rid of it. here are some pics of my tank now btw since that is the purpouse of this tread.

whatnot, are you experiencing good success with keeping your background orange and your seahorses staying orange? did they come in orange? Have they changed any other color before?

Very nice tank David. I like your placement of the acro in the sand. Nobody seems to do this, but it is quite natural.

My tank is overgrown by caulerpa. I can't seem to get any good pics of it. They all turn out looking like a mass of green.

Nice tanks, would would anyone pick a 24 gallon aquapod or a 30 29 gallon tank for 2 reidis or kudas? If you went with the 29 and had to buy other equipment, what filter would work? If possible I would rather get the biowheel type of filter for 50 gallons instead of a fluval or something that is a lot more money.

Well they change colors from month to month. When i got them they were yellow, i put them in the tank, and they changed orange. SInce then they have gone through shades of purple, red and orange and every now and then they will turn yellow. So i cant be sure really.

I would not get the aquapod they have a tendancy to get very warm, and seahorses need water no warmer than 74-75 degrees. A 29 or 30 gallon tank should do just fine. As far as filtration, I would not have a bio-wheel as your only source of filtration. seahorses are messy eaters, and there will be a lot of waist in your tank. IMO also get a skimmer or a fuge w/ macro algea for nutrient export unless you dont mind doing water changes every couple days.
