Anyone have a MRC MR-1 protein skimmer and can help me out?

I purchased this used a while back, using a mag18 to run it, and for nothing in the world, I cannot get it to foam... Anyone else have this problem with this skimmer? Is it just really hard to get this thing going or am I doing something wrong?

When you run mags your injectors get cloged pretty fast, sometimes daily. A pressure rated pump would probably help out .In either case check to see if the injector is cloged.

I had the mag, so I decided to use it, its actually a recommended pump from MRC. But I will definately check if that is the issue along with checking out a new pump for this particular situation.

I cleaned out the injector, good call, got it causing lots of bubbles, but now cannot control the water line and its just overflowing the collection cup... I have been messing with the gate valve and the air valve for about 2 hours now and can't figure anything out.

Messaged you back Rogger.

Air valve is not letting me control the water level, the gatevalve, I change it from high to low, but it either adds more bubbles when I go high or takes them away if I go to low. Been messing with it for too long and its just getting me aggrevated. I have a MRC CR-2 dual chamber calcium reactor and that keeps leaking from the bulkhead at the top, this companies products are really starting to **** me off.... I hear so many good things about them and I don't know if its me or what. I have the MRC nilsen reactor and it works great, just wish these other two important pieces of equipment would start working... going to bed, will get back to it tomorrow...

Try running it with gate valve fully open to almost fully open for a while until it breaks in. then dial in the water level inside the skimmer by closing the valve a little at a time.

Rogger was telling me that alot of these skimmers have to be run above water level of your sump, that will only be possible with mysetup if I run it outside of my stand which really isn't something I want to do. My sump is pretty tall and the skimmer is about 24" and my stand is about 38" going to have to figure something out in a few days between work.
