anyone have a nano setup FS with GOOD lighting?

Get yourself a stock nano and go to nanotuners.com for the lighting upgrades. Be sure and include extra fans, though!

stock meaning "off the shelf" or "out of the box"
Have you looked at those new oceanic nanos? Tim at Fins told me he had some in. I havnt seen what they look like though.

I looked at some at AC today...I like the 29 gallon, but the cost is high and the lighting that comes with it is insufficient...

The lighting upgrade for PCs is quite inexpensive. I added two 36 W PCs to my 24 gallon which puts it at about 130 W over 24 gallons. A bit tricky to fit it all in, but it can be done. 5 watts per gallon is just about right for what I'm keeping in there, plus 4 bulbs gives me more flexibility on the color spectrum.

If you're going to do your own lighting and are looking at 29/24gal, I'd just suggest a 30G cube. You'd probably enjoy that more. Although 30gal is borderline to even be considered a nano.

I bought some glass today for partitions in my sump I'm making. If its the all-in-one design of a nano you like, I believe you could easily buy a piece of glass cut just the right size to create a back compartment in a 30gal cube that you could use for filtration (ie nano cube style). If you hit up a small glass shop, you should be able to get a good deal on it. I paild about $10 for 5 pieces of 1/4" glass cut. 3 of them were 11.75" x 12".

I'm running (2)-20W screw in bulbs over the 5.5 and everything seems to do fine. I haven't tried any LPS except for a frogspawn that did fine for nine months or so, then had bailout. Sounds like two 36W work great over the 24. I was looking for some pics of your nano the other day(Dave)...

I run 3 of those screw in jobs like Gary and my candy cane has grown from 4 heads or so to 25-30 in 16 months and I keep digi just fine also but hate I can't have just actinics going. Nanos are cool.

I have a 24 gallon JBJ that I took the top off of and added a Finnex 18'' Mh light 150 watt with two PC's each 18 watts. Tank is doing great.....

Casey: Is the oceanic any different that the JBJ nano? Is it alot more expensive? How much did the critter have it for? i saw a 70watt MH retro online somewhere for like $100. I can't remember where though. Maybe it will come to me later.

Kalied: that tank looks great! You did a good job fitting that over the tank. Do you get alot of evaporation?
