Anyone have an external pump

I need an external pump for my big tank. I've been running the biggest Via Aqua submersible pump for several months now and my temp. has slowly been climbing and is now hovering between 81-82 degrees and I am not running a heater. I turned my skimmer off for 4 days to see if it was the Sedra and the temp didn't drop any. So that leaves the big return pump as the culprit. It draws too much power anyways, it draws like 350watts or somthing in that neighborhood. External pumps are much more efficient. I would like to get something that I can run external with "hook" style plumbing so I don't have to drill my sump. If I could get something at least 1000gph @about 7' head I could use it. Let me know if there is anything local before looking on the market. Seems like Phil had one a while back. You got one Phil?

Amazing, I just ran some numbers on the efficiencies of these pumps. Here's my findings.

Monthly cost based on .10c/kwH and 24 hrs usage

Via Aqua 8000 - $25.20 (350 watts) Annual - $302.40

Iwaki RXT 30 - $7.90 (~110 watts) Annual - $94.80

Does this sound about right.
