I stopped at a pet store out in alliance and i noticed they have a rock beauty angel that is in perfect condition and is active and eating well (also housed with soft and lps corals and not even touching them), i saw on marine center they saw they dont do well long term in captivity, anyone on here have luck or know anyone that has had luck with them?

Rock Beautys are sponge eaters in the wild and even with angel formula food that has sponge they are hard to keep for very long. That is why for a nice fish that they are the price is so cheep. I have had a couple over the years but not for more than a few months.

i think its called pet connection right on state street, its about 1/2 a mile down the road west from mount union on the north side of the street, lol i stopped in to look at the bull terrier puppy they had in and i saw they had a few saltwater tanks that actually werent too shabby for a little pet store and the LR wasnt too bad of a pirce either for a little shop at only 6.95 a pound

I don't have personal experience with them but Coral magazine ran a nice article several issues back about the genus that includes the Swallow tail which are all proported to be reef safe and rather pretty fish. They don't have the amazing color of some of the other genra but won't starve to death over a period of months

I want to know how the wantanabei do. I think they are so cool looking, but don't know anyone who as kept them to get the low down on how they feed and get along with the reef etc.

Man I can spend hours in there , if they had a couch, served hot wings and had the Lions on TV I would never need to leave LOL

I have never asked Dan about them. It seems I am always on the meter when I run in there and never have enough time to just wonder around and ask more questions.

man you dont know what your missing there, i go there and EASILY spend about 2 hours each time, i will walk by a tank about 10 times and see something different each time i look into it

BTW i see you like fly fishing, its the only fishing i do, even saltwater

its a candy store for sure!!!
I love to fly fish but since both my shoulders have had serious operations I don't cast well at all. My timing is way off as is the motion. I end up slapping the water or not shooting line worth anything
I have thought pretty seriously about hiring a casting teacher to spend a whole day with me and try to relearn it all. I was never a strong caster before hand but that is all compounded by having no muscle memory to fall back on

it is very very tricky, luckily i taught myself and would practice for about 2 hours everyday outside when i was younger, we actually are members of Rockwell Springs Trout Club in Castellia (SP?) and i love it there, im hoping this fall i can just spend a whole weekend there (its only about 20 minutes from salty too) its strictly fly fishing and now there is alot of natural reproduction in the stream but it has rainbows, brookes, and browns all in the stream, i actually caught a grand slam there that included a 5lb rainbow, a 6lb brown, and a 4lb brooke trout and to finish it off i caught a 7lb tiger trout

I have fished the state section of the stream after winning the annual lottery. I took three rainbows all in the 4-6 lb range. The State section is not really any fun to fish. It was much more like fish in a barrel and you had to keep the fish you keep. Something I am generally not a fan of

I live about 15-20 min from the stream but lack the $ to buy a membership.

If I can, I hope to get a few practice sessions in and hire a teacher/guide to head to Pa with. I am thinking maybe this spring if the weather is decent and it seems like I will have enough free time to get back into it I really like Oil Creek and have fished out of Volant as well

i know that usually it is like fish in a barrel but it is a really good area to teach people to fly fish, i havent had time to go up there lately but i really want to in the next few weeks, lol if i do, i will let you know and we can go on their side thats not fenced in a try to do a little fishing
