Specifically I am looking for pictures of the pistol shrimp that come in the package from TBS. I have a pair of shrimp currently but they are living in a cave with the weirdest white scallop in some kind of odd three way. :love2: :inlove:

I would really like to see a pic of what they send to see if I can identify these weirdos.

Casey,

I got peppermint shrimp with my package (requested peppermints instead of pistols).

The serpent stars you'll get are huge. I'll try to get a few of my cleanup critters to pose for a photo.

I assume you don't need photos of snails and hermits :D

I don't have a picture but pistol shrimp are easy to identify, mine were about one inch long and had a giant left pincer that was almost as big as their body. Very easy to recognise. They look much different than any other shrimp.

Serpent stars- mine hide during the day but will come out if they even get a hint of food coming. Very agressive feeders!

Casey, just finished browsing throught your 5 pages of post on the "NEW TO THE HOBBY" forum. Great setup! What are the deminsions of that tank? It looks like it would be pretty deep. Anyway great pics.

Hi KP, the tank is 48x24x30. The 30 is the deep part and yes, I am often having to strip down or I get my shirt wet even with it pulled up (and I am 6' 3"). I wouldn't change it for the world though I love the deep look. Hmmm. I might make it 96" long though. Oh and maybe 30" wide. Hmm and then... No make me stop...

Splach, I have a bunch of pstol shrimp, they are gray, about one inch long, and have one huge pincer almost as big as their body.

The only reason I know I have some is that when I broke a big rock with a hammer and chisel 4 of them got knocked off with the debris.

The tank has been set up for months and I haven't seen them before or since, even at night with a flashlight. I do here them occasionally though having rap concerts with the mantis :)

It worked, it worked, it worked
:D

So here is a picture of our "golden Shrimp" (until I figure out what kind of Pistol Shrimp he really is)

The picute is a little dark, but he rarely comes out, so I had to be fast.
He's brown, with a yellow line down his back. The claws are bright yellow/orange, and the feet and tentacles are bright blue.

AWESOME!!!! YOU DID IT! You got a picture of the shrimps that are co-habitating with my scallop. Now what is it? I have at least two of those guys and they are very pretty.

Thanks,

unfortunately I still don't know, what kind of pistol shrimp he is.

Hy suggested to post a pic at reef.org .... but I couldn't find the right place to post it yet (I might just try again right now)

I let you know, if I find out something

Manuela:confused:
