RO water in fresh tanks is bad idea because it is missing trace elements just use dechlorinated tap water i have a 150g Lake Malawi tank i use str8 tap and do normal water changes but my water out the tap is 7.8ph so works well for me .. but if your keeping discuss u will want to use driftwood to help keep your ph lowered and possibly either do small water changes or use chemicals to get your water to a more appropriate ph for the discuss. u will want to test your tap water ph so u know where u start.

Dumb question here but what about using the discharge from the RO/DI? the carbon should have removed the Chlorine and such. thought about making a koi pond sometime soon and the discharge from my Ro system is right by this corner of the house.

sounds like it would be fine....depends though what is the tds of the discharge? with my water it wouldnt be too much of a problem but as ya know all our water isnt the same
