Anyone hide power head on bottom of tank?

Just looking at a really huge tank that has no visible source of flow. Wondering if anyone had ever put one(s) on the bottom of the tank and built up live rock around it to hide it, but yet allow water flow out from between the pieces??

Power heads need to be cleaned so you can't really build rock around them. Closed lope uses the return pump to move water around the tank instead of power heads

I've got mine behind the rocks but not like built into it. They aren't invisible but they're not the first thing you see when you look at the tank. I think it helps that my sand is all in the front, the rocks and behind them are barebottom. You do lose a lot of flow, so you need to upsize the heads a little. You also want to make sure there's space for the fish to find a quiet place to sleep, if there's a lot of flow in the rock work I'd think they'd be uncomfortable. I like how it looks and I think it helps with nutrient control to not have a lot of settling back there.

If you're looking at photos of tanks, it might be that they removed the powerheads. Both to get a clearer pic because things aren't moving, and just to look cleaner.

Here is my new tank. While not invisible I've mounted 2 Gyre xf230 on each side of the overflow. This keeps the sides clear for viewing while still providing excellent flow.

I have seen someone tried it with the vortech on the bottom of the tank pointing upward. They even tested a contraption like a 90* PVC piece to fit directly on top to help direct the flow.
Obviously you can't have sand down there, and be careful st the dry side is attached to something sturdy.

I'm actually experimenting with this in my tub. I have a Jebao rw8 tucked in the rocks. This is a 40 gallon stock tub that I am using to grow cheato and as an add on additional system for more aggressive fish that I cannot keep in my reef..

From note 5.. rip note 7
