So my idea to use the 55g tank I had as a sump under the 125 I bought from alafish isnt going to work. The tank is way too tall for the stand so I wouldnt have any room to work.

What I was going to do with the 55g is get some glass baffles and basicaly build what Melev has built in his model F as seen here: http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sumps/f/sump_f.html

So now Im at the point im going to have to custom build one and would like to do basically that same design. Anyone local ever worked with acrylic or anything? Im looking for help, advice, etc..

Thanks
Scott

I like the designs from that site .I have never built the whole thing before I always found me a tank that would fit.Maybe a 30L would work for U .That would still be a good size sump , but I have made the baffles and a weir overflo before ,so I do not think the whole sump would be that big of a deal.I always cut my baffles with a table saw with a carbid blade and use the weid-on glue to put the weir together with .U can use a plain heat gun that u get a wal-mart to bend it with , glue it together and u use a router with a acrylic bit to cut it out with .

I have a 30 long that I was going to use for a sump on my 90 gallon... It's to small for my 240 that I have now. Might be willing to trade if I can't find 75 cheap enough.

A 40 gln breeder might work. Give Robert at AD (usually works Saturdays). He used to have a bunch.

Good luck

Yeah Marybeth, I thought about a 40g breeder. I think it would work well acctually depending on the height. You had just a wet/dry trickle sump didnt you? Im going for a full refugium, return and skimmer section.
