Anyone interested in an RO/DI group buy? Who has a Typhoon?

I've heard DI resin does go bad over time. If I recall correctly, it has a shelf life of 1-2 years. I still wouldn't consider it a bad idea on purchasing an extra filter set if you plan on making alot of water. I may actually get a new filter set on this group order.

I think I may get the East TN Reef club in on this, too, as I'll be going there in the middle of October and could deliver then. That way we can have better chance to meet the minimum.

The DI needs to stay wet. If it dries out it goes bad. I go through a cartridge of DI about every 12 months. For me, this means getting in bulk won't really work cause I don't have a way to vacuum seal it. If people want to split a bag of DI (I think they have a 5 lb bag that is enough for 4 recharges) I'd be willing to go in on one. I'll be due for a switch in the January time frame. I also will go in on the order for a 6 pack of filters.

Getting a 15% discount on the typhoon with free shipping is a great deal. If all those on this thread that need an RO/DI get in on this (4 so far, I think) and a few of us buy extra filters, I think you'll hit the minimum.

The membrane in Marc's system is a GE Osmonic TFC membrane, not what was posted in the thread. He can do group orders, but you have to order a lot, like 18+ but you will save $50 per unit.

You mean the extreme? Either that or the III would be good. If you can afford the extreme it comes with a bunch of extra goodies that are nice to have.

Yeah the extreme. Its alot cheaper to get all the extras up front than to add them on later.

You are right on that. I originally got the Typhoon (plain jane) and have since added a dual inline tds meter and a pressure gauge. The extreme looks really nice.
