Anyone keep clams in a 10 gallon?

Thinking of putting a clam in my 10/20 long sump/fuge.
I have 70 watt 10k mh lighting, so its intense enuff.
What type of clam would be good to put in a 10 gallon, and do they really use that much calc/alk?
Pics would be cool too..

It can and has been done, but because they are filter feeders and are very susceptible to changes in water quality, it is very difficult with such a small volume of water. You would need to feed frequently with phyto and maintain your calc/alk. Proceed with caution.

I have with 80 watt PC above. No problems. About a 1 1/2 years in the 10 before I move it to the 90.

What kind of clams are you guys keeping? Also, if its over 3" would it just get its food (so to speak) from the lighting?
Its a 10 gallon hooked to a 20 long sump/fuge.

Squamosa, he's about 4". I don't feed him much, maybe once a week.
He does very well with just the lights (PC's).

I think my 70 watt 10k AB bulb can handle the clam.. I"ll start it down low, and then perhaps move it up higher if need be.
I"ll get one around 3 - 3.5 inches so I won't need to feed it that much.

ive got a crocea in my 10 gallon that only gets light and calcium... its been in my tank for almost a year now... he hasnt grown much but he has definately gotten bigger since i got him. hes under a 150 20K

Here is mine in my old 10g. Its a crocea, was kept under 96watt PC for 8-9 months, it was in a 2 gallon for a few months before that, under 13watt pc. The clam is still happly alive in my 20H tank. It was about 3 inches when I got it, its now about 6.

I keep a Squamosa in my 10g under 150w MH, and it's doing quite well. It ha grown quite a bit of new shell since I got it.

I cut a 24" Coralife 24" Aqualight Pro and cut it down to 15" in length.

1 - 150 watt 10,000K Metal Halide
1 - 28 watt Actinic Compact Fluorescent
2 - 1 watt Moonlights

It is a common red open brain.

By the end of the 10 hour light cycle it is all streached out. It shrinks to about 1/2 size at night.
