Anyone keep Green Star Polyps in their SPS Tanks???

For about a year and a half I've been keeping mostly LPS corals with a large rock covered by GSP... More recently I've been getting bored with LPS so I've stocked up more on acros... It's just starting to cross my mind that my GSP rock could be having chemical warfare with my SPS and be detrimental to their health and growth... Is this something I should be worried about? I have a 180 gal tank.... are GSP's know to have chemical warfare with SPS corals??? Anybody keep a large amount of GSP's in their SPS tanks??? TIA...

As long as the gsp does not touch the sps it should be fine.

+1, under proper management they can coexist without problem.

Just keep the GSPs under control. Isolating them to a single rock is a good idea that helps keep them separated from the rest of the good stuff.

I have mine growing on my bare bottom tank. They do go rampant if not kept under control.

I have GSP on a rock sitting by itself on the sand bed, so it won't spread.

I too have an island with a path of GSP growing...im hoping for a little green nodge late on. As for the warfare IMO as loon as it is not touching/growing over the SPS you'll be fine.

I have GSP in with my SPS, they are not aggressive as far as stinging or chemical warfare goes, but they will grow on & over everything, they grew on my Digita & Acro, funny thing is neither SPS died, just the part that was matted over bleached, I had to remove them & scrape the GSP off, not fun but it worked for me.

I have half of my overflow covered with GSP about 12"H x 18"W as well as a fairly big size boulder covered with GSP as well. The rest of the system is SPS, they are co-existing without any issue so long as they do not touch....

i'm setting up an sps dominant 40b tank. total gallon is about 65 gallons. I wanted to start out with some hardy soft corals to boost my confidence. ive had a baseball size colony of gsp on a rock island sitting on the sand along with a few sps frags for a few weeks now with no apparent problem.

Never a real problem. Easy to remove with tweezers if it starts growing where you don't want it.

I use a thick paste of Kalk over the growth
That's not wanted.

I have a hard time growing mine, I run the tank at high alk, so I think that's probably why they don't thrive let alone live that long.

THis has been my expierience as well. When I first started an 8gal nano I had explosive growth and couldnt keep it from overunning other corals but once I set up a 28gal and got the water to a low nutrient state it would no longer grow. Wouldnt die but very slowly spread over a few months time where in the 8 gal with higher nutrients it would grow that much in days.
