I have a 4x24" Tek T5 hood over my 20g tank and would like to hear other's experiences in keeping maxima's under these lights.

I have a gold teardrop under my T5's. I also have a Crocea and a Deresa. All at the bottom of my 90g. All doing awesome.

How far up is the maxima? How long have you had it? I know most people say to get a derasa first, and maybe I will for my first clam, just to get a feel for keeping them, but it sure would be nice to think I could get a maxima, too, at some point.

Just go ahead ..
I had Maxima under T8... 8X58W at 6'X20"X20" with no problems... i only lost her because of my Trigger got her for Midnightdinner :(

Edit
MY was maybe 5" from the surface (15" from the light)

BTW ..what fishes are in the tank??

The tank is only 16" high, so it's fairly bright with the Tek hood.

No fish now. We're moving soon, and I figured it'd be easiest to just wait. But the plan is a clown, and maybe 1-2 other smaller fish. Maybe a goby and a wrasse or anthia?

The maxima is on the bottom about 24" from the light as well as my other clams. The Deresa is up about 6" for no apparent reason. I have the 48" 54W T5 6-bulb setup from SLS. I think I had him for over a year now. Really can't remember. The Crocea and deresa are a couple of months new but they already have new growth. Get one that is more than 3". Anytime I went smaller you really have to keep them fed which can be a burden.

Cool, maybe I'll give the maxima a try. Just to confirm, maxima's like to be attached to something, right? So I think what people do, if they want to move them around, is set them in a clam shell, right? That way they attach to that and you can still move them around.

Thanks guys,

Aaron

You can put a few nice size rubble pieces iaround him and let him attach to that. My clam likes to move around all the time, he finally found his reasting place in some nice zoo's of mine.

Right Maxima bounds into stonie surface...

Be a little careful with wrasses ..that might be a issue ..im not that familiar with english fishnames but guys like Labroides dimidiatus are causing problems with clams...
