Anyone keeping their Mg high?

I was wondering if anyone is keeping their Magnesium at 1500ppm or higher. I have heard good things about keeping it that high but am also curious to see long term results.

Chris I'm consistently at 1450 - 1550. I really did not know much about mag and its effects on my aquarium until recently, but in my case its too early to tell. Only a year old this june.
This is the first time in my hobby life that I'm consistently dosing it but honestly have not seen any major +/-.
Always understood what the Holy Trinity meant(Cal-alk-mag) but never ever gave it as much attention as this setup.
Really interested in this thread.

I am using Salifert test kit, We will have a brand new test kit for member to use at thi coming meeting, just bring some of your tank water

Apparently I haven't done a very good job of keeping my Mg high at all. Just tested last night, and I was all the way down to 1065. :eek1: Good thing my pH runs on the low side, or I'd have quite a bit of precipitation on everything.

I'm in the processing of bringing it up - 1.5 gallons of Randy's formula to get back to 1350. That's 7.5 cups of mag flake, 4.5 cups of epsom salt. I should really get into the habit of checking this more regularly.

Jeff I do use a salifert kit and test it bimonthly. I figure might as well make it part of my testing routine.

I have the same kit...I'm just a bit of slacker when it comes to doing the full battery of tests... :strooper:

you just have to break it up and do a couple each weekend takes 5 mins. If I did ever test I have it takes close to an hr.
