anyone know a good LA area lawyer?

unfortunately I'm having some issues with a guy on ebay that I sold a keyboard to, and he's falsely filing a claim with his cc company, as well as posting up some vile stuff on ebay. judging as a cc company would squish me like a bug without a lawyer regardless of whether what he's telling them is true or not, I'd like to at least speak to one to see what I can do with talking to visa. since there's 8 million lawyers in LA, perhaps someone can direct me to a good one that doesn't charge an arm and a leg? any and all input is very much appreciated

I believe you will discover very quickly that it will not be worth it to get an attorney involved (except, perhaps, only to the extent of having a letter drawn up). I tell you this from personal experience: in litigation, NOBODY wins! Especially if you are the party who has been wronged (as is my case).

If he used PayPal or some other 3rd party pay, I'm pretty sure there will be TOS issues between them and the cardholder that will need to be satisfied before the transaction would be "voided".

Make sure you understand what the responsibilities are for the other party regarding "proof". PayPal (or whomever) has a contractual obligation with you as well as the other party. And eBay also has TOS that might make this less of a slam dunk than you think.

My advice would be to kick the tires a bit and see what happens. Again, there are contracts here, not just some "he-said, she-said" arguments.

Visit paypalsucks.com regardless if you used Paypal or not. There's a lot of info and people with experience regarding eBay/Paypal scammers who may be able to point you in the right direction.

Ebay/paypal give sellers no support and will issue a refund to the buy for almost any reason. Some buyers take advantage ot this and try to black mail sellers for better deals or refunds.

I agree in that PP/Ebay works better for the buyer.Specifics pretty much depend on what your auction stated-did you state it was new?Perfect working condition,etc..make a huge difference.

An atty. for such a small matter seems a bit overboard.

cost of keyboard vs cost of attorney. doesn't seem like you'll win either way.
