Anyone know anything about Octopus skimmers?

Anyone know anything about these skimmers? How do they compare to other brands? Am looking at their 110 or 150 recirculating/external models. Any thoughts? Would be most appreciated, many thanks!

Ben

if memory serves the Octopus brand of skimmer replaced the ASM line of skimmers, so they're comparable to those, although I believe they come with oceanrunner pumps instead of sedra now. But as far as how they work, probably comparable to EuroReef. But not the higher end skimmers (Bubble Master, Bubble King, H&S, Deltec)

Well, if it is anywhere near my EuroReef or H&S, I'd be really happy for the price. Anyone have first hand experience?

Actually Octopus skimmers are from Coralvue. As for the build quality, it's better then ASM. I can't say if it's better then Euroreef or not since I don't have one. I used to have a G-2 ASM Skimmer.

I'm currently using the 110 Recirc model on my 20g, I'm pretty happy with it. Skims way better than my G-2 that I had on my 30g. It's going to go on my 60g once that is setup. I've only had it for a couple of day but it's doing a great job so far.

The cheapest place I found was from Tom @ socal tropical fish .com

the octopus skimmer is pretty good after modding the needle wheel. It skims like a mad machine. I have a octopus NWS200 and it's great on my 150gallon

I have been using the Recirc 110 for about 10 months now on my 60g and I'm pretty satisfied with its performance. It was the best recirculating skimmer around $200 that I could find at the time of purchase.

Yeah, at $175, it seems like a pretty good deal, I just wanted to check with others. I have a 92 gallon bow front, already running an H&S, but I want to add some redundancy to the system. I'm juggling between the DNW-110 and DNW-150 at the minute...probably safer to go bigger and skim the heck out of the thing given I have some messy eaters (moray, blue throat trigger).

Some of the larger skimmers have a little heat soak.. IF heat is not aproblem in your system you'll be fine.. Great skimmers for the price.. I got mine from Chris at Aquatic Central...

I'm running a chiller, so I should be fine...would rather skim the heck out of this thing than keep energy bills down. :-)

I ran a 110 recirc on my 92 gal corner bow and it did a good job. For the price, it's hard to beat.

My only complaint about it is that I had to replace the pump once.
