Anyone know if this tank is tempered?

I bought a used 180 gallon Oceanic tank from a guy I work with and want to add an overflow box to it. I've had no luck in getting Oceanic to email me back so I thought I'd post some pics here hoping that someone might recognize the tank and know. I was originally wanting to drill the bottom but there's a good chance it's tempered. What do you think the chances are that the sides are tempered? I've seen some designs on this site that look nice coming out the back so I think I could be happy with that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most oceanics only have tempered bottoms. Still I would wait to here back from oceanic before attemting to drill the sides.

I agree. Is ther a sticker with the build date on it?

Nope. No sticker. This guy has OCD so I'm sure it would have been peeled off long ago if it did have one. He thinks it's about 5 years old. No idea what is taking Oceanic so long to reply. I've emailed twice in the last week.

Don't know about the bottom, but I would say you are 99% good on the sides not being tempered. I have never heard of an Oceanic tank having tempered sides. So you should be able to drill the side or back and actually setup a better overflow than the stock unit with the whole thing being safer since the tank will not drain competely if your overflow fails.

Thanks for all of the replys. So Kim, you've never heard of an Oceanic having tempered sides? That's kind of what I was thinking as well. I'm leaning towards doing the Calfo style overflow box anyway so drilling through the sides is fine with me. There's really no chance of a flood with this method. I just wish Oceanic would hurry and write me back.

Yes I have never heard of an Oceanic having tempered sides, that is one of the good things about Oceanic. Personally I think going with the Calfo style overflow is the best way to go. That is what I am doing with my 180 I am setting up, only I am only doing it acrost the short end since the tank will be setup as an island room divider.
