Gooch was awesome. Best place in gb to buy stuff. got so many good things from him back when I started out - couldn't appreciate it then. I would take a run up there just to see him again. $20 leather coral, $20 zoo colony, best lookin' sps I have ever seen. Gooch! Where are you!!!

Since September 11th probably 60% or more of the small pet and aquarium stores have closed down. This is basicly do to several factors, slow market after Sept 11th, increase in online computer sales, increase in shipping costs especialy from overseas. While it caused me to cut back about 90% of my business for some they decided they just could not hang on any longer.

Unfortunatly Gooch was one of those who decided to close shop completly. Now if he will stay closed for a long time is aqnother question. Hopefuly we will see him come back some time in the future.

Gooch

You need to know some of those that have Gooch originals that are fraggable. He was the guy that got me into sps. Someday I will repay him for all his generosity and kindness!! Nicest guy I have ever met.

Boy, I just thought he was hunting and focusing on happy home life instead of the crave and addiction we all have.

The last post I saw from him over a year ago makes me wonder if he even has a tank going at all. I know he was selling of loads of equipment including some custom acrylic tanks.

well there you have it folks. the guy is like a legend. Best looking stuff ever. You really just don't see sps like he had around gb or appleton... no offence. Perhaps it was the top down view on a lot of the sps tanks but there was so much good stuff in there!

He doesnt sell anymore but still has some awesome corals in his own tank from what Ive seen of the picts.

I am still alive and still in the hobby. Don't post much. I do not have much to say. Not to mention my computer is a POS and has been giving me grief the last two months. Hunting season just ended for me......spent twelve hours yesterday just making sausage. 90 pounds of brats 90 pounds of summer sausage and 50 pounds of hot dogs and 40 pounds of ground venison for jerky. Good season.

I currently still have my tanks but they look like hell. At least to me they do. My fish are awesome but I kinda lost interest in the corals and the hobby in general. I am not getting out, at least not for a while. I still have the 400 sitting empty but am going to make an effort to get it up real soon. I am just so busy and just never seem to have any time. I am proud of the work I did on it. I made the rock for it myself. That was almost a two year project in itsef but I really like how it turned out.

I currently have zero as in not one sps coral in my possesion. But a couple of reefers that still have some of my originals are holding frags for me. My zoanthids look awesome and my ceramic rock experiment tank is still going strong. Almost two years now and only one water change(the rock has given me no problems even with the planned abuse of the system). I had to see just how it would perform in the worst conditions I could create. If you did not know it was ceramic you would never guess it. Which really excites me with the 400. IMO it should be a tank many would consider TOTM quality when it is complete.

As for getting back into the livestock business. There is absolutely no chance of that. I loved what I was doing but it was taking just to much of a toll on my health and family life. I really enjoy the freedom I have right now. Even though it is a small amount.

As some of you know I do dabble in something on the side. Kris and I have to talk about possibly doing something with it. But right now niether of us are sure we want to pursue it. But it would only be wholesale. I just can not do retail anymore.

Thanks for thinking of me and the kind words. It is nice to know some people appreciated what I was trying to do. It does mean a lot to me.

Someday I will try to take some pics of my stuff. I promise.

gooch you rock. Nice guy and you have a talent for something. Luckily I recently visited sticky and got some of the blaze orange zoos that YOU WOULDN'T SELL ME AT THE TIME CAUSE YOU WERE GROWIN' EM OUT... miss visiting your store... unfortunately, even if you made my day and told me you were going to open a cool storefront some day - I live in milwaukee now and don't get too many chances to visit green bay. (Although they do have a blue spotted jaw fish over at aquat imports...)
BTW went and sat with my bro again this year for opening day and did not even see one stinkin' dear... I am trying to forget about that so...
no hotstix dang it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anywho, you will always be the guy who had a store and knew his suff left side and right. You just needed to charge more and take time off. Anywho, happy reefing.

Here is the big buck I took this year(11 points about 225 pounds, should score high 140's low 150's). I also took a small 10 pointer with the bow. I had a good year.

don't take this the rong way but nice rack! Can't believe I sat in the woods for 8+ hrs and saw nothing! Oh well, next year.

Yes this remin ds me of when I first decided to go into the retail business with fish an old timer told me about what I was getting into.

1. He said instead of 8 hour days your going to have 18 hour days.
2. Instead of working 5 days a week you will be working 7 days a week.
3. Want a vacation... He did not have one for 30 years, and the last time he had one he lost half his livestock because no one knew how to treat them.
4. Want to make some money.... Well all your money will come in over 3 to 4 months then you will take out loans to keep you going till you hit those hot months again.

And yes I have basicly found everything he said was the truth.
