I found this little guy hiding in my acropora today I wandered why I was finding my clams partially eaten and my fighting conch eaten and a couple snails. I am thinking this is the culprit.

He is not eating anything hes not suppose to. Its a porcilen crab that shares a symbiotic relationship wit acros and are good for the coral

Well I just put him back into the acro I tipped the glass over and put one branch of the acro into the glass and he climbed right back into it.

I agree with ^^^. Very nice crab, and awesome crisp pics. I think they're called Acro Crabs, because they live with acro's. They're safe. like everyone else said.

Thanks for the comments on teh pics it is truly more the doing of the Nikon D80 I use than the person behind the camera LOL. I thought I had noticed something in teh acro when I brought it home but never thought much of it till I actually saw it moving around today. I agree it is a cool looking crab I just hope he doesn't decimate the snail population among other things in my tank especially my clams.

If you watch the BBC's Blue Planet:Coral Seas, you should be able to see your crab in action. Or at least I think its the same crab. Its protecting its home from the Crown of Thorns starfish. Pretty cool such a small crab has so much tenacity.
