To get rid of freshwater tropical fish??

We are getting ready to move our regular 29g to the bedroom and start building a new stand for a 10g sump and get a FOWLR going. But in order to do so we've gotta get rid of the tropical fish.

Is there anywhere you guys know of that will take them??

We always dropped off at APC. Good luck

Now that I think of it....does a FOWLR require a sump? I was just hoping for a higher total water volume...hmmm....

And I've actually got a home now for many of them - whatever is leftover I will try to give to pet store.

Fowlrs usually have very messy eaters. Eels puffers triggers. A sump with a large Skimmer is kind of a must IMO.

Ohhh okay. Thats true.about the nasty eaters! Oh boy - I've got ideas flowing through my head....
This could get expensive!!!

Something in the hobby Expensive, I don't believe it!!:headwalls:

When I get ideas flowing through my head it usually leads to something costing money too.:hammer:

Only a 29 ? Now I'm very curious as to what fish you plan on getting. My 57 isn't even big enough lol

Well originally was planning on taking the 29 and having a velenti puffer and a flame hawkfish and some type of bottom feeder.

But then I started thinking that since I will need a sump no matter what....I could get either a 40b or a 55 and use the 29 as the sump. That way I could do a snowflake eel and a velenti and flame hawkfish and maybe a small school of chromis ...

Most important to us is a puffer. We've always wanted one.

Originally before saltwater took over we were gonna turn it brackish and do a couple figure 8's....ah decisions.

We can do a bigger tank (by bigger I only mean up to 55 with sump) in the bedroom as that is where the strongest floors are....and with a fowlr we won't need good lights right?? Oh idk maybe I'm wrong. :-/

Valentini is way too big for a 29 I can't even have one which is why I got my Toby. My advice? There's so many adorable tobies to choose from.

Oh and the snowflake will eventually eat the chromis. And the light is just for your enjoyment so whatever you want will work.

Good to know about the eel. So I must have Valenti confused cuz I could have sworn I saw them as good for a 30g on LiveAquaria.

Whats a Toby? Not familiar with them. Is there anything else you'd suggest for a 29g FOWLR?

My avatar is a Toby puffer. One of many. And I'm pretty sure valentinis need a 90 they get very big. For a fowlr thw bigger the better. Most fowlr fish get quite large. Again just IMO. I will never be able to get large enough for the fish I want lol

I hear ya...my ultimate fish is a porcupine puffer...or a stars and stripes....or a mbu FW puffer....or fahaka FW puffer....or a dogface....or a...oh nvm I think you get the point lol.

So what size tank do I need for a porcupine puffer, and a Picasso trigger? Lol jk

Oh man! So sorry I'm the one confused. A valentini is a Toby. He's fine for a 29 the porcupine was the one that gets big. Its my vavorite fish ud think I'd know the difference!

Oh lol I was wondering why LiveAquaria was saying a 30g was good!! Doh!

Which is your favorite fish? Toby or porcupine?

Porcupine they have such adorable Smiley faces. I feel so dumb! I love puffers. And IV researched them till i felt like my eyes were gonna fall out. Idk what I was thinking!

Awwww - don't feel dumb. You just had a small brain fart! I'm a huge puffer fan as well. Have you ever seen the mbu?
