Anyone need any cleanup crew?

Hi all!

I am thinking about doing an order of blue legs, scarlets, cerith, and astrea. I was curious if any of you guys are interested?

If so, let me know and maybe we can work something out. I'm hoping to do one of two things: I can sell any of these individually if some people are interested in a couple (probably $1 for blue legs and cerith, more for the others), or we can go in together if you need several and split shipping.

Or, if no one is interested, I'll just be by my lonesome, I suppose.

FWIW, I'm also considering doing an order from Indo-Pacific Sea Farms. Has anyone ever ordered from them before?

Yea, our past reeftopia orders got pretty big. But from what I remember, always a good turn out. I need a few hermits and snails, but not anything worth orderin'. I'm talkin like 4-5 hermits, 6 nassarius, maybe 4 astreas. This is just somethin' for my 10 gal.

I didn't think there would be a ton of interest, but maybe there will be.

I may just oversize my order and try to make a bit back on the extras, possibly pay for my shipping or something. But I may be up for a large order, too.

So reeftopia seems to be the place to order from, huh? Especially if we did over $125 when free shipping kicks in. They have about the same prices as the other source I was looking at, keyscritters.com, but with better selection and an offer for free shipping....

Soo... now that I've started this potential mess, anyone want to do a reeftopia order? School is out and I think I should be able to handle it... hehe.

I do want to say that I won't be ordering probably for at least two weeks, maybe three FWIW. That may be good or bad to you guys.

BTW, what would you guys recommend as far as numbers for a 45 tall tank? I'll probably have 70lbs of live rock or so, so lots of rock to clean... which makes me happy because I like hermits!

I was thinking 25 blue legs, 25 cerith (that may be too many, though, considering the small footprint and thus sand surface), 12 astrea, either a serpent or brittle star, emerald crab OR maybe a horseshoe crab, and about 6 scarlet hermits.

Do you guys think that would be too much for a 45 gallon tank?

That sounds about right except I would up the Astreas to around 50 or so. Their Golden astreas are fine, that's what I usually get.

your 25 ceriths will turn into 100s! I got 12 on my first order a year or so ago and have tons of babies. They breed like crazy in my 20 and now my 10 gal. too. I put maybe 12 or so tiny ceriths in my gal. and already seein new babies, I'm talkin little black specs. Pretty cool. I'm glad the Mandarin dont eat them.... :eak: OOPS, did I just slip and say I have a mandarin in a 10 gal!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I may get 50 astrea and resell some of them (or at least try). Thats kinda scary about the ceriths!

Exactly when do you think I should get my cleanup crew? If I understand correctly, just after the cycle... if I have much of one. Should I try to do a shrimp or something after the initial cycle? I'm afraid I may not have enough bacteria built up just after the first cycle.

I may do Keys Critters and sell some individual hermits and snails if there's not enough interest to do reeftopia and get free shipping.

If anyone wants something, just post here. When the time comes, I'll take the money and make the order. I'll let you know when that time will be and when I will need the money by to make the order. I first have to get my tank (its being built) and get it running!

Also, I need numbers of animals instead of dollar amounts. As far as I can tell, that would be the easiest way to do it. Plus I then know how many you guys are expecting. From there, we'll split the cost at the end.

That gives me a week to get my tank up and running and time for some algae to build... although I should possibly wait longer. Any thoughts?

I'm picking up my tank on the 21st and should have everything ready to be plumbed and hopefully running by Tuesday night. Maybe not, though... just depends. But I think the 28th should be good. I shouldn't have much of a cycle... if any.

Wellp, there have been some changes.

I wasn't able to get my tank until Friday, and its probably going to be another 2 or 3 weeks before its up and functioning (gotta wait on tha cash ). Also, Ryan gave me 6 or 7 hermits when I picked up his perculas, so I don't really have a need for anything other than snails, and I think I'm gonna wait.

So, in short, I'm probably not going to make a gigantic order any more. Sorry guys... didn't know this was going to happen. If I should change my mind, I'll update here.
