the left and right pieces are very nice. The center look kinda odd .. Man those are nice rock. They are so expensive though ..

This stuff is cool, but STINKY. I'm actually thinking about boiling or bleaching mine. Anyone else do anything like ths?

I would just rinse it, with a light scrubbing. Then cure it.

We rinsed ours with a high pressure hose.. just short of pulling out the pressure washer . Still had lots fly off when we put them into the tank. Granted our pieces were a little larger than normal, but some sort of runsing was definitely needed. It actually worked out well for us as we were setting up a new tank and the extra biologicals helpd spur on the tank cycle that much quicker (beats using a dead shrimp to kick start the tank cycle ).

I soaked mine overnight in a tub of RO...in the morning the water was almost thick and smelled kinda...like moldy feet.

I'm also starting a new tank, but I'd rather not have 75 gallons of moldy feet water. Moldy shrimp water on the other hand...

Anyway - back to bleaching / boiling, other than the potential problem of having bleach get into my tank, would there be any problem or damage to the rock?

These rocks are very cool, and I'm putting them in my tank. But it's not live. It's dead and dehydrated. The goal is to bring these things to life, but might as well start with a clean slate, right?

Bleaching is easy.. just use Chlorine Bleach (check the label, some are "bleach alternatives"). Then when done soaking them in the bleach water go buy a huge bottle of dechlor (usually for less than $5) rinse the rocks off as much as possible and then soak them again in RO water w/ the whole bottle of dechlor thrown in. Rinse one last time and then you should then be good to go

I had mine in a bin for about 4 weeks.. Right around the 2ndor 3rd week the skimmer stopped pulling gunk out of the bin.. There were a couple of dried up sponges left on the rock. I just scraped those off...........
