Anyone regret getting a Goby/pistol shrimp??

Mine are trashing my tank! I didn't realize they would just keep digging forever, i assumed that a tunnel or two and that would be the end. They keep digging and exposing my eggcrate and are getting sand all over the lower parts of my live rock, I have already had to move a few corals to higher ground I also have to change my floss all the time now( which is probably good as all that debris is out of the tank)
I guess thats what they are programmed to do.

I have had both the tiny Candystripe and the larger Tiger pistol shrimp and never experienced this. They find somewhere they feel comfy, make a little burrow and thats about it. The goby usually hangs out and the shrimp does he daily bulldozing but never to an extent of problems.

I have the tiger and goby in my Solana and they do the same thing. The rock is aways covered in the "dust". In some ways it looks more natural though. When I switch to a bigger tank I may leave them out and put them in a pico tank for better viewing.

I don't regret either of my pairs in my 75g. My Randall's goby and tiger pistol stay on one side while my YWG and candy cane pistol stay on the other side. The tiger moves a lot more sand for sure but not anywhere to the point of it being a problem for me. I just make sure there aren't any frags nearby for him to grab

Thats another point, the shrimp drags everything moveable into his borough- shells, frags , once he took a hermit!
