Anyone repair laptops?

My laptop has officially crapped out. Yesterday when I was using it it all of a sudden flashed and restarted, like a PC with a power shortage. Since then, either the screen doesn't work, or it will freeze after 30 seconds of operating.

I'm starting law school in August and money couldn't possibly be any tighter than it is right now, so buying a new computer is something I really don't want to do. Do any of you diagnose/fix computer problems? I know if I take it to a place I'm going to get absolutely raped. Also, I'm going to be parting out a 55G FOWLR since I can't take it with me on the move, so I can either compensate with cash or livestock/supplies.

I actually had it diagnosed and decided to get a new one. Thanks though.

That's the problem with laptops. After a few years old, when they break, especially anything with the screen is actually cheaper to buy another one on ebay than get yours fixed.

I am frustrated. I have a laptop collecting dust. Manufacturer wants $380 to fix screen and I can buy a brand new better one for $400.

I finally gave in and bought a new one.

However, I still have the old one sitting in my office collecting dust.

Frustrating.
