Anyone seen this with Mangrove?

Hey guys, so I have a couple shoots along with my 2 large and 2 small mangroves. I got them with the small mangroves and they should have actually been that size by now but for whatever reason the original stem and leaves withered away but I felt like leaving the shoots in for a while. A week later I thought there was nothing left for them so I went to take them out. When I pulled them out the substrate I noticed a bunch of new little roots so I decided to replant them and leave them till the shoot itself started detereorating. Well after some time now, I noticed they're finally showing signs of life. All of them have these little sprouts on the top of the shoot where the stem originally used to be. This one in particular seems to have 4 little sprouts. Should I assume that these will grow normally now and has anyone else experienced this?

I have never heard of a red mangrove recovering from the loss of an apical meristem without any axillary branches. However, it does look like it could be rebudding, so this might be the exception. You should post update pics in a week or after you notice them opening.

Yeah it's pretty cool looking. Dying to see what it will look like when it grows all the way out. At the moment there is some new growth, saw it last night. I'll post an updated pic when I get home
