I've been thinking about selling my Remora with maxi-jet 1200 and the preskimmer/overflow box. Interested?

I guess for the right price I would, but it is rated at a 75 gal tank max and I am guessing this would be underpowered for my 75 gal unless I upgraded the powerhead. What size are you using it on now?

Try a CSS 220. I use it on my 90. Thorium checked my nitrates on a very accurate machine, they came out at 0.87 PPM. Very nice skimmer IMHO for the price.

Honestly, if it is within your means to add a sump, do so. In sump skimmers are so much more efficient that it isn't even funny. I've heard the CSS 220 is decent, but I had a CSS 60 before my remora and it kept overflowing the cup with clear skimmate. For whatever reason it would just freak out randomly and overflow onto my carpet. Coralife could not figure out what the problem was so I got my money back. I have heard great things about the Octopus in sump skimmers, and they make a HOB that is rated pretty high but I don't know if anyone has had any experience with that one. There is a huge thread in the lighting and filtration forum on octopus skimmers. Oh, and compared to other comparable skimmers, they are dirt cheap.

have considered the octopus allready. the dual hang on is nice, but w/o any feedback I am leery. I guess in that skimmer format it is really all about the pumps and those are easily replaced if not good enough. I have a hang on refuge but it is so small I don't want to utilize some of its space for skimmer. I don't have a sump bcuz I live above my landlord and a little "oops" would be costly. With this in mind I was considering the coral life (125gal rated one), so that later I could put it in sump but if they overflow it's back to square one. Perhaps I'll be the guinea pig on the octo...

mine olny overflowed once when it was new and has never did it since .. i have my hanging off the side of my sump . it seams to work better that way .. i also have the cup taped to a 1gallon jug so it has extra room if im not near to empty it
