Anyone up for another 135 Thread?

You are in CTARS aren't you? What's your name? I'm Tyler, one of like four people under 16 in the club.

How did I miss this thread?

I'm 15 also. Your "budget" tank is quite a bit more than mine is, hehe. No job yet, starting on Tuesday though (so I can buy fish keke).

Looks really nice though. How big is your sump?

Sump is 55g. I'm thinking about making one of my 38g Rubbermaids a huge fuge, but setting it up would be a real pain. My budget is still pretty low. After I sell the rest of Giovanni's stuff, I will have spent aroud 1.8k total. For all this cool stuff I got too...pretty darn good if you ask me. I'm hoping to get a job too...around here you have to be 16 to work, unless you have a work permit. Minimum wage is $7.10, soon to be upped to $7.50, so if I can work maybe 20hrs a week, I'd have a pretty stable income.

Daaang? Your minimum wage is $7.10? Ours is $5.15. Although I imagine things are more expensive there than in Kansas. No, I am not a farmer.

By quite a bit more, I meant that you had 95 more gallons of display than me. I wish I had gone with a sump, oh well, parents didn't want one.

... and you don't even have a job? Ain't that a kicker. This is all I can manage, and I have a part-time job:

This is an old picture, also have a 30-gallon freshwater. Nice work so far, a job will REALLY help!

I ref for $20 a game, but haven't gotten a lot of games this year. So many new refs got certified :sad1:
Anyways, once I get a job I'm sure this will be a lot easier.

I thought minimum wage was a federal law. Aren't all states supposed to be the same?
The minimum wage is $5.15 per hour, as designated by the federal government, however each individual state can set their own standard, but whichever wage is higher (fed vs state) is the one that applies.

Tyler, I suggest appliying for a job at a trustworthy LFS (if one exists). Not only should you get decent discount on livestock and drygoods, but you can see any new arrivals/trade-ins first as well. :D

Well I'm moving to connecticut then.

Tyler I applaud you. Very nice tank! I for one had to fight with all my power to get my 46bow. I couldnt even get a 55.."its too big Nick" Phaw! Any way marverlous keep us updated! One thing i have been toying with was a small cube tank.. very simple, no sand, and like maybe a few peices of rock. Simple/ elegant with a few SPS and like a yellow gorg. Idk first i need to get some sps in the bow! Maybe TODAY..meaning like never i will order the tunze... quit holding off the inevatable mom!

Thanks Nick!

Well today I'm in a better mood cause the tank is behaving, and everything is going nicely. I got that $100, and my allowance is coming soon, so financially is better too. Basically I just want most of the manual work to be more automatic. Instead of carrying buckets, opening a valve, that kind of thing. I just want the tank to chill out, be able to add frags, and a fish now and then. That should come in the next few months. I keep forgetting that my tank is only 2 months old, and everything that is happening is normal.

Anyways Nick, I'll have pictures once I can steal the camera from my sister. She used all the batteries at prom, and now is hoarding it from me, since she is the 'Junior Powerlord Sibling.' Sheesh :rolleye1:

I like your simple tank idea. I would love to do that if I had the time/money. Something like a clown species tank, just a big anemone and a pair. Like that guy...I think Pikey. His clown tank was sick.

Ha! That is funny! I know how you feel about the tank. I get a gallon of evaporation about every 1-2 days. I hate having to lug the water, especially in the summer... in houston its 97 right now!

I don't know how you feel about your sister though! I am the oldest of 2. It is me and my 11 year old brother, but dont worry, it's all balanced out...little brothers are pure evil.. evil...evil.....

Did i mention I'm going to Hawaii this Saturday! Maui is the island. Instead of fish observing me in my domain. I will observe them in theirs....ooooo... the twilight zone....

Sweet, I would love to go to Hawaii. I'm going to Pittsburgh this weekend to see my cousins. Any LFS recommendations Kelly?

With my sister, my size dominates her. I'm almost a foot taller, and just overall stronger. I'm only 18 months younger and a grade behind. She thinks she's all superior now, she needs to back down.

Once I get these 55g drums, water changes/topoff will be really easy. I can't wait :)
