anyone use silicone on their naostream

Hi all. I have the 6025 nanostream in my 29 gal. Biocube. Let me say this thing puts out a ton of flow! That's my problem, it's too much. I read where someone suggested using silicone on some of the vents to impede the flow. Has anyone done this to theirs', and if so, where is the silicone applied? Thanks!

I highly doubt this would work and would probably be a mess. Suction would just intensify in the other open areas. If you did manage to get enough in there to slow the flow, basically you're probably burning up the motor. It's set to run at one RPM/speed, and if you modify that it's probably creating a significant amount of stress.

Just my guess. I'm sure Roger will add his input.

Actually it should be OK, the wattage will not increase, in fact it tends to drop a bit. The main thing is to be cautious in how much you cover or you may effect start up. I would cover about 1" of every other slot on the back. You could try electrical tape or a piece of plastic too.

what if one peice comes loose and breaks the impeller i dont see how the 6025 could overpower your 29 did you point it at the top of the water for the surface agitation

I suppose that is possible, I haven't tested it, it was just a suggestion to help a customer trying to reduce flow, I would think silicon would be soft enough that it shouldn't cause any damage.
