I am thinking of swithing to 6500k bulbs for my tank and I was wondering what everyone thinks of them. I do use actinic supliments and I have 2 solatubes over the tank.

If anyone has pics or a link I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I have a backup 250w and 400w 6500k bulb, i use for a day or two when / if any of the normal lights fail.

The colour is just not very nice on my tank. I also doubt these bulbs give off the sort light your corals need.

6500 is supposed to be the closest colour rendering to natural sunlight...i dont see why there would be any problems using it...corals may brown a bit or look just plain ugly...but i have seen several people with a 6 or 8 bulb HOT5 fixture who incorporate a 65ooK bulb into the mix...

Thanks. I went with XM 10k's with my solatubes it should look pretty close to natural. I hope the actinic VHO's bring in some coloration to go with the growth.

Thanks Again

I am a fan of Iwasaki 65K's. Last year I switched to reflux 12Ks. The 12K's look nice, but the growth is noticably slower and the 65k's remind me of what a reef looks like when I dive.

I am going back to 65K's next month.

Hello
I have a Iwasaki 65K powered by a M 37 ballast with 2x3"VHO's on a 40 gallon frag tank. The corals hold their color, and the growth is outstanding.
