Anyone using an ozoniser?

I was running it for around two months before someone tried talking me out of keeping it. Dont let those without ozone try frightening you off. Make up your own mind.Hence my post here. At first the water didnt seem to change. The response to my thread and improvement in the tank has forced a definate thumbs up from me.

I am jumping in now. Although I am using it in a native marine tank, anything that will cause flocculation (suspended particles to bond and drop out of the water coloumn, which is one of the things ozone does) results in amazingly clear water, which will always assist in light penetration through the water coloumn which would be a desired result.

It is important to use or build the correct reactor. Skimmers are not the best means of ozone use. I have just finished one and outting it in service now. The link is below for pics.

Ozone really makes the water clear. I was not a believer but was convinced when I installed one in my system. No more yellow tint on the water after using ozone. I have been using ozone for two years or so now and will continue to do so.

Ok, so Ozone appears to be something that could be good for a tank. How are you getting setting it up?

How do I know my skimmer acrylic is ozone resistant, or should I inject it into a ozone reactor?

Keeping ozone in its own system is realy the way to go, but it seems to be used without trouble in skimmers of many types. I think it requires a little effort to think out but the results should be worth it. The amount of effort is no mare difficult then plumbing anything else. Just get all the facts from people who seem truly knowledgable.

If your skimmer is acrylic, it is ozone resistant. You can't use vinyl tubing though. You can buy ozone resistant tubing at a LFS.

The waste container should have a carbon filter on it because that where the bulk of the ozone will end up as gas and get into your room. The other portion will leave with the return water and need to be carbon filtered.

I can easily put carbon on top of my skimmer cap. The output of the skimmer is a tube that goes directly into my sump. I would guess I need to have the output go into a sealed container with carbon or can it just flow over carbon?
