Anyone using Blueline E-Ballasts?

Speckled Grouper

Sticks Suck!
I am setting up a 250g bowfront acrylic tank that I got at a steal.

It came with 3 400W bulbs, but no ballast.

I am looking for suggestions on ballasts, this time around I would rather go with reliability and efficiency than saving a buck.

Please let me know what you think.

I'm using the 400w e ballasts. I have one complaint one went out after 2 yrs of use. I'm trying to decide if I want another or looking atanother ballast to replace it with. It hasn't completely died yet but the bulb gets bright and then dims alittle every now and then. Champion said it was something in the ballast, and can't be repaired. I would consider the Icecap ballast if you are doing 250's. JMO

I'm thinking on a Icecap 400, but they have to put it in an enclose box before I'll buy it. Seems they had problems with the 400s and still working on some issues.

Thanks for the input znut Reefer, a few of the online vendors show it "out of stock", I wondered if there was a problem.

I am shying away from the IceCap for that same reason, it needs to be boxed and cords attached.

Is there another "out of the box - ready to use" 400W electronic ballast?

yes there is the coralvue and the EVC e-ballasts. I'm not sure what the warranty is on them or if they will fire most or all the bulbs out. I haven't done the homework on them yet. LMK if you find out anything on either.

And yes Icecap did have some problems for sure with the 400 ballasts. Thats why you see out of stock.
