Hey Reefers,
Not sure how much help I will be here, but my second piece of LR in my 10 gallon nano reef came with a very unexpected hitch hiker. You guessed it, a clam! It is incredibly well disguised, you would never know it was there unless it's open. The shell is that well hidden. It's not much for looks, but I imagine it does a good job of filtering my water, my tests are good. Amonia was a little high last time, but I trashed hte bio-wheel that was in my filter, which I learned was litterally dumping amonia causing bacteria into my reef! Great for freshwater! Not for my reef! Anyhow, things are great now, and I even feed my tank a little DT's live phytoplankton. This smorgusboard made the clam extend it's feeding tube longer than I've ever seen before, because up until the DT's I dosed for hte first time 2 days ago, it hadn't extended it much. Now it's like "Reach for the DT's! MORE!!!" My numerous mini feather dusters on the LR are waving wildly too when I add DT's, and I imagine other live in the LR is loving and craving it. The clam is about 2.5" right now, not sure how big it will get, but it makes my tank interesting, ugly duckling though it may be.
