Coralife nearly killed my snail population.
For months (!), my astera and turbo snails would not move. They didn't die, but they wouldn't do anything. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I used to use IO, but bought a bucket of Coralife since it was on sale. I never made the connection.
After continued frustration, I eventually bought a bucket of IO. A ran a test. I filled 2 buckets with water, and mixed up a batch of saltwater in each (IO in one, Corallife in the other). Test both to 1.025 at 80 degrees. Dropped 2 snails in each.
Within 10 minutes, the snails in the IO were active. The Coralife snails remained motionless. I then moved the snails from both buckets back into the tank, and did a 40% water change. The next day, all snails in the tank were active.
I will concede that this might have just been a bad batch of salt mix. Frankly, I don't care. I'll never buy Coralife again. I'll stick to IO, which I know to be a high-quality salt, with a price comparable to Coralife.
