Just wondering what kind of results people are getting from this product. Also should i keep my protien skimmer off while using this product. Thanks

I used Kick-Ich on my 55 gallon tank and had positive results. I used it in combination with garlic. Some have seen very poor to no effect at all with this product - I guess it depends on the severity of the infection. The ich in my tank was pretty bad but fortunately after completing the 15-day cycle and adding garlic during feeding I was able to give my fish that extra little boost their immune systems needed. It probably took about a month and a bit before I could no longer see any visible signs of the parasite. Also, it does say on the bottle that running your skimmer while using the product can considerably reduce its effectiveness. This one's up to you. I ran my skimmer, but then again it was at the time a Marineland Seaclone and wasn't really skimming much of anything. Make sure you keep up with your water changes following the treatment, you wanna make it was hard as possible for these little SOB's to reproduce. Also, give your substrate a good vacuum and use a turkey baster on your rock during water changes. That's where the Tomont cysts come to rest before they hatch into hundreds of free-swimming Tomites.
HTH and good luck!

I have used it recently and also had positive results.I didn't run my skimmer and used 1 ounce per 10 gallons, rather than the recommended 2 oz./25gal.and treated every other day for the recommended amount of time.I fed the tank sparingly and waited 2 weeks before I made a water change.I haven't seen any white spots in 2 weeks.

From what I've heard, the product is only useful for a certain strand of ich. Unless you have that specific strand it's useless. I tried the product but it didn't work for me. I think those have had success are only getting short term success and the ich is still present. If water quality goes down, the fish catch the ich again.

i soak my food in marine-c, garlic juice and selcon........... i quarantine nothing, i saw ich on a few fish in the beginning, powder blue in particular...... it disappeared and ive never seen it again..................too me its more an environment instability induced problem, if you make sure everything is stable and give the fish a few things in their food to help fight it off, i believe it will not host and eventually die if you do indeed get it..............just my own observation

Sheesh...the Kick-Ich debate again.

It has NEVER, EVER been proven to work. Experts are pretty sure that the majority of cases in which ick cleared up during KI use can be attributed to chance or some other factor. It contains some sketchy ingredients as well, one of which is lovely formaldehyde. In my experience, KI is like Chinese medicine. I lived in China for a time, and whenever you got a minor ailment like a sore throat, they'd say "Oh, you can use some of this ox skin or crushed gold..." but when you're really sick they always say "Oh, you need Western medicine. Our medicine takes too long and once you have severe symptoms it's too late for it to be effective." Etc.

Wanna know my cure for reef ick?

1. Try to buy your fish at least 7-10 days after LFS get them in, reducing the chances that the specimen has ick...provided that you don't see any signs of it in the system either.

2. Quarantine if possible.
