Anyone using these lights?

yeah it is..

Don't put too much stock into this image. The light from that unit is very white and very crisp. My digi-cam is an el cheapo. ;) No harm in giving you a glimpse though.

i think the lights look great, forget those negative replies, you got a great deal. as far as the ballasts go, the code not matching to other de bulbs, oh well. it seems the only de bulbs that match are a couple of iwasakis, which would leave you to believe maybe that is the brand of bulb you got with your fixture. i know they are unmarked, but, some one has to make them. good luck with them and keep us posted with anything new.

One cool thing is that I know I like the bulbs now and I can order repalcement bulbs from them fairly inexpensively. They were willing to sell me one for $25 including shipping to replace one of mine so I imagine it would not cost much more.

Note: The bulbs are not listed on their website but you can get them by calling. I realize the following is a rehash of some of my previous comments in the thread but... They get the bulbs in bulk and thus give them away free with the units. Also means they can sell them cheap when you need replacements. :)

I believe it was a paypal transaction via their website. I ordered both my lights it on a Tuesday night. They shipped out on the next day. I got the small unit in that Friday. I got the larger MH unit in the following Wednesday. The warehouse for the smaller unit was in Texas, according to the shipping label. The MH unit was shipped from Cali.

i'm trying to figure out how long i'll have to wait on mine to come.. i'm orderin money order.. i'm sendin the money order off tomorrow mornin..

Lights look nice. I have mine sitting on the tile floor turned on trying to see how hot it will get and see if anything goes boom. :P I will be hanging mine. The hanging accessories are pretty cool. However, I'm having trouble figuring out how it connects to the ceiling. The end piece, which the end of the cable attaches, has a female end that is threaded for a screw. So from the ceiling, a threaded piece like a screw needs to be mounted. Is there a hanging kit I can buy from Home Depot? I was hoping I could just drill a hole and use one of those screw with the expanding plastic to secure the cable. Warboc, you have the same hardware and probably know what I mean about that end piece. I'll probably head over to HD tomorrow.

i ordered the 24, compact 110 wats.. i hope it has that effect some.. i love that..

I called them today asking about the 24" PC fixture and they said they are taking orders but not processing them until Feb 5th. I guess they are out until then. FYI.

I looked at that hanging kit and thought "No way in hell".

I have the instructions for the hanging kit though I believe. Did you get those?

I got the instructions on how to assemble it. Looks strong to me even my kit should be no problem for the 48". However, the instructions stop when you get to installing it from the ceiling. I will search some more. Google is my friend.

As for the color difference, make sure the "nipple" of the bulb is in the up position on both bulbs. MH's usually take 100-150 hours to "burn in" and attain their true color and intensity.

When you buy bulbs in the future I would suggest looking at other brands. Maybe a local reefer or two has a 150 DE you could borrow and fire up in your fixture next to your current bulb. There's no better way to compare them. Oh, and don't use an 8-12 month old bulb to compare to yours. Try to get them as close to the same age as possible.

Just to answer someones question about shipping and what not..

We ordered online from the site and used Paypal for our lights\skimmer (we also got a cheap thermometor that will be fine for us as its pretty accurate and reads indoors\out)

Processing went through in a day and items arrived about 6 days later so it took just about a week to do.

We also had a UPS tracking number to track our stuff so we weren't in the dark going "will it come for real, is it too good to b true?"

We're still debating if the stand will hold all the weight of the tank and may reinforce it so we may or may not have water in it yet..

We live in orlando and are going to get a TBS package so once we do that i'll be able to start to give some feedback as far as the performance of the jebo skimmer- some google groups results and other feedback i've read here about them suggests they aren't your top of the line euroreef, but certainly get the job done for the price and are a lot cheaper than your crappy marineland petsmart brand.

Here's to good luck with our new setups and equipment *cheerS*

Well chrisstie i hope your equiptment works out.. i hope to get my lights in 2 weeks and mine work lol.. i been searchin and searchin for a good light.. i really didn't want to pay 400 dollars for a light i couldn't afford it.. i hope these guys work..

Well mabey the 150s are different but I know for a fact my 250s will only go in one way due to the ceramic ends.

The 150's in the fixture I have can go in a couple of ways and it is clear as to what he meant by the nipple of the bulb.

Dave,

Aren't the ends on a 250 symetrical? The ends on a 150 are a straight edge with a contact in the middle. The bulb goes in the socket with the edge in a vertical position. So if when it's in place the nipple is on the lower half of the bulb you can take the bulb out rotate 180 degrees and put it back in. Then on top of that you can pivot the bulb in the socket until the flat edges hit the socket which gives you some relief in each direction.
