Anyone using these lights?

the only complaint I have about thier lights is they use cheap cooling fans. The fans are very loud. I swapped the fans out with some PC processor fans and the light is alot quiter. Other than that works great. I got the 24" 130 w PC and will probably get a set of t-5 soon.
 
Thanks for the info! I too, noticed that the fans are very loud, that's a good idea swapping them out -- maybe I'll do the same. Did you get the single or the double moonlight? Is it basically plug it in and go?

yeah the fixture is already wired for them and has a wiring connector already in the fixture. The moolights will have a connector on them you just connect the wires and push them in the holes and twist them to lock them in...simple...They are pretty bright. As far as the fans, you can get them at a computer store for about 4-8 bucks. Its really wimple to wire them in. I actually didn't do 2 fans I went ahead and wired one 80mm case fan in there. It was a tight squeeze and kinda hard to mount but man is it quiet and the lights never even get hot to the touch. I got lucky and they sent me 2 12k bulbs, then when I emailed them and told them that they didn't send me the actinic, they sent me the actinic and let me keep the extra 12k. I got a used 65w pc fixture from my LFS for 20 bucks so I now have an extra 65w for 20 bucks....lol...one of the few times something worked out to my advantage...
 
s3aL, It looks like you are having the same problem as one of the people earlier in the post.. Looks like the right MH is more blue than the other..... Ever notice it? Does it go away after they have been on for awhile?

Yeah, when i first got the bulbs they were way off. One was blue and the other was white looking. After they burned in for about 2-3 weeks the white one got slightly bluer but still are different colors. I guess I could have lived with the different colors but I dont even know if these bulbs are any good or not since there free. I ordered the new 15k XM's and should be getting them in the next couple days. I love the color they give off in the pics ive seen.
 
thanks..... The setup is SO tempting! How loud would you say the ballasts are?


I'm thinking of waiting until they come out with there 2x96w pc actinic instead of the t-5s (july i believe)
 
i am going to buy lights from these people pretty soon, but i'm a little sketchy about whether i should or not. but i only need to know one thing. is there tracking? if so, then i'm chill about ordering from them.
 
Supposivly somewhere earlier in the thread I read there was. I think you pay with paypal too. You could also try looking at what aquadeal has on ebay... His prices are usually cheaper after shipping.... also he replys to emails.
 
New fixtures are now available on there website. I think I'm gonna give it a try.

I ordered the Odyssea 175 W MH W/18 Acintics fixture & w moonlights. I ordered it on 6/15/05 and received it on 6/17/05 for the price Its a great fixture. Im still in the process of setting up my tank. I did a test run on all of the equipment last night and everything seems aok..I only have one question . On my lighting I am going to change the MH bulb once I get my tank cycled but can I change my fake odyssea 18W acintic bulbs to 24 W real actinic bulbs without it causing a problem?
