fire it up and leave the return from the gate valve out of the water and adjust the height to the bottom of the neck about an inch or 2 and let it run


if you want it wetter that move the foam head up higher


you can play with it to get it were you want it

Problem I am having is water is occasionally squirting out of the air intake valves. Also I have the drain line from the collection cup hooked up but dont see where John had it draining into bucket. Did he have the two tubes hooked together?

I am using fresh water right now as I just ran the plumbing and checking for leaks

saltwater you shouldnt have water water squirting out of air intake because of the gravity of the salt water


never seen the skimmer hooked up to the bucket i knew he was borrowing a acrylic waste collector from a friend when i seen it hooked up

The same principal "probably" applies to my downdraft. The outlet with the gate valve needs a "T". One for pressure relief and if you have the outlet underwater it fluctuates the water line in the skimmer from the siphon effect. When first setting mine up it recommended the water line just inside the main box reaction chamber but since I'm running a stronger pump than recommended I end up with it even lower, only about half the box level.
