New member
So thought I'd post an update on my AP 24, currently Im in the process of doubling the lights by putting two PC hoods into one which will give me 126 watts of light, just waiting on my 2 stealth fans to show up, today I bought a fish bagger/container and drilled holes in it and added sand and live rock rubble and will soon be adding Chaetomorpha Algae to make my own small in tank refugium which so far has costed me a whole $2.49, has stock pump and all bio balls and filter sponges removed and Im using filter floss with chemipure and purigen in the back, Tank is 5 months old with perfect Perams (YAY!)

Current inhabitants:
Algae Blenny
2 Oc clownfish
1 Pajama Cardnial
1 Blue Reef Chromis
1 Tuxedo Urchin
1 Sandsifting seastar
1 Skarlet Skunk cleaner shrimp

1 green branching hammer coral
1 rock with about 10 green mushrooms
1 rock of Zooanthids
2 pumping Xenias

1 colony of button polyps
35 lbs of live rock
2 1/2 " sand bed
hitchikers so far lots of peanut worms, a sneaky crab i cant find, 2 serpant sea stars, copepods coming out of my ears and hopefully nothing else creepy

I got the idea from a thread from someone in my local reef club, thought it was a great idea, just didnt realize how easy and cheap it was going to be

Well I just got off the phone with a fellow reefer who is going to bring me some Chaeto Algae and Miracle mud tomarrow, Im so excited

lol i have the same in tank fuge on my 20L;)
just cheato in it though i think it works just as well with just cheato

wow, i also love the tank and the in tank fuge. i think im gonna go to the lfs and get a fish collector plastic thing they use and hang that on. thanks for the great idea!!

Well I now have the Chaeto in my baby refuge and Im loving this, its been 2 days now and there is a slight diff in My Nitrates which is never at 0 but never at a dangerous level, But Im thinking this may have been the key to my slight register of it, I didnt want to have any protein skimmer hanging from the outside of my tank with fears of kids messing with it and cause me bigger problems and an inner one was not working due to my lid just sinking it, I have not yet decided on a saphire skimmer so I thought this was a neat option and tonight Im going to go pod hunting and suck some up and squirt them into the fuge with a turkey baster, All in all this whole project costed me $3.49 no matter what I cant go wrong and If this solves my slight nitrates its the best investment Ive made
