I am using a mac and am having a hard time getting the email to work on my APEX.

I have a GMX account and set up the Apex as described in the unofficial user guide. I cannot telnet in or use a dos prompt to track the email.. Any ideas?

Lets see if I can help, but to start with, a Mac does not have a 'dos prompt' as it is a Unix (posix) based operating system, so I think you mean the 'shell' or 'command line'.

So your Apex is not sending emails at all? Have you checked the setup of your email information in the web interface? Are you positive it is correct? When you try to telnet in, are you using the correct IP?

When I telnet in via the 'terminal' I can hit the APEX, but it wont let me log in.
Every time I type the 'A' in Admin for the username it types 2 'A's (and it wont let me back space)... UGH.

I am positive that the GMX account is set up correctly and I even sent an email from the account to my phone to test it.
I looked at Ken Argos guide and replicated his settings on the Apex (using my info)

I dont think the APEX is getting out. Could this be a router issue? I can send emails with other clients (Yahoo & Gmail)

Ok.
From the terminal type telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where the x's are your IP address.

Then, once connected, hit ^] (Crtl+])

You should now see:
telnet>

Type mode line and hit enter.

Hit enter again until you see 'login:'

Now login with your login/password

Long story short is your telnet client had to be in linemode

I'm a mac user and set up everything for email via the web client using firefox. i did not need to use telnet at all. Any specific reason for using telnet? Can you log into the web client directly?

LOTUS50GOD, did that solve your problem? Are you able to follow the userguide instructions now to check the setup?

I am a MAC user, I got it to work via GMX and a text message to my iphone. Just make sure everything is correct. 9 times out of 10 its your email password or a misspelling.

I did not use telenet.

Sorry.. I had to work today and was away from the tank.
What you told me now works.. I can now debug the email.

God.. I love this forum.
