Apex and Tunze wavebox settings

So after months of having the stream cables, I finally hooked it up a few days ago. I've been playing around with the profile setting trying to recreate the wave I had with the Tunze controller.

Basically, I am unable to duplicate it.

My settings are divide by 10. The closest I have come is .7 seconds on and .7 off with 0 to 100 power. I get around .5" wave with the above settings.

I have tried 1 through 10 seconds/10. For both on and off in almost every possible combination. I've waited 5 minutes or more between changes.

My tank is a standard AGA 180g (6ftx2ftx2ft) with a clear shot to the other end of the tank. With the Tunze controller, I can get a 1.5" to 2" wave.

For those with similar length tanks, what are you setting yours at to get the maximum wave?

Have you tried the example settings Neptune has in the manual, page 39? It's for 2 pumps and is supposed to generate 2" waves via two profiles, one for each pump.

I only have 1 pump. It's the big Tunze wavebox.

Thanks for the tip. The recommended time is 1.2 seconds. I did not think to go past 1.0 seconds. I am trying them now. At .7 seconds, it seems to be too long already. The wave would have come back twice before it pulsed again.

1.2 seconds is way too long. I hooked my Tunze controller back up and got an instant 2"+ wave. The pulse rate is much faster.

Anyone got this to work using a single non-nano Tunze wavebox?

jiriki- maybe i'm misunderstanding the online manual... but from what i'm seeing, it looks like you can connect the wavebox controller to a multicontroller. Can you connect the apex to the wavebox controller and then connect the wavebox controller to the wavebox?

I'm very interested in how this works out since VERY soon we'll be dealing with the same situation and hardware :)

No, using Apex stream cables, you hook it directly to the Tunze blue driver box. The idea is to not use the Tunze controller since it uses a knob to change the pulse settings which can be tedious to set and it would not take up an outlet if you want to make it part of your feed profiles.

I'm out of town at the moment. Once I get home, I will play around with it some more. Hopefully, someone else who's gotten this to work could chime in.

Me too, My tank is 6 feet long and i have tried used the setting from 1 to 12 and no luck. Also i notice, the tunze intense is much stronger with the tunze controller. I set the min/max intensity both to 100 on apex and does not get much flow out of the tunze wavebox. Can any one share their setting?

the Apex variable port won't control the tunze wavebox directly? (and produce a wave, of course)..

I want to run everything using my apex...

Our apex controls our wavebox fine, but the controller that comes with wavebox is MUCH more sensitive than apex is and can be tuned closer to sweet spot for bigger waves than our apex will do.

ok..

I'll use my apex then... I'm not interested in "large waves".. I would like a general 1/2"-3/4" wave moving left and right across the length of the tank..

while my 6055's contribute to a circular current..

thank you for a quick answer..

No prob. I would strongly recommend using the controller that comes with wavebox along with a stopwatch, adjust until waves meet your expectations, and then use stopwatch to measure how long wavebox is on/off a halfdozen times. Take the average on/off times and plug that into apex profile as starting points for the profile and tweak from there. It sucks that the apex is only sensitive down to the 0.1 second for profile timing :(
