Apex Android App

There were some problems in the "Apex" app that could cause force-closes. The ones that come to mind are duplicate or blank outlet names.

I can't think of any conditions with the "AquaNotes" app that could cause a FC. I'll PM you separately to work it out.
 
Henery, Thanks for the apps. I recently purchased a Neptune Apex and downloaded the Apex app. I too had the issue that I could view the status but couldn't control my controller from my HTC Eris Android Phone. So I installed your Aquanotes V33 from the market. I entered the same preference information as I did in the Apex app and I am getting the "Sorry! The application AquaNotes (process com.heneryh.aquanotes) has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try again." Does this program work for Android 2.0? Or should I download an older version of the Apex. That was an option in one of the older posts. Thanks again!
 
I was having problems about 3 months ago. I sent him error reports and never got anything back. I don't know if he is still working on this. Now have iOS and works great. I would thing Neptune should provide a new app for everyone.

I try to get back to everyone. There have literally been about two people I couldn't solve their problems. You might have been one of them or maybe I just lost track of the emails/pms.

Since your IOS now I guess its a moot point.

Other than giving me a shot, not sure what the value of your post is.

The original app had problems with blank outlet names but I thought that should have been fixed in the newer app.
 
I meant no disrespect. I loved your app until I got an update which then I couldn't log on permanently. I was just voicing my experience not hating. I still wish both os's could edit outlets. GUI would be cool if it were user customiZable. So instead of text u could simply add a skimmer icon. Just my .02
 
Any known issues with running this app on ICS(Galaxy Nexus)? Every time I load the app, it says the app is not responding and I can select Wait or Ok. I select Wait, I have to do this 3 times and then the app comes up and works fine after that.
 
805reef, Are those problems behind you know or does in FC still? One area that I need to beef up error checking in on first install when there is no data yet collected. If the user goes into the 'controllers' section prior to there being any data in the database it crashes. Unfortunately, this happens a lot for first time users.

If I could be there for first time users, I would tell them to hit the refresh spinner in the top-right once or twice (waiting between them) to capture some data before going into the details.
 
Henry...Thanks for all the hard work...I just switched over from apple to android...I am going to be setting up my apex today or tomorrow and wanted to clear somethings up. When I go to the market I see two apps there..1 of them is rated the other is not..I am guessing the new one is the one which is not rated yet and is the one I should download.

It is still doing it. It has been doing it ever since I installed the app when I got my Galaxy Nexus. I got it on release day, whenever that was. So it's been a while. I havent asked about it cause I have been too lazy until now.
 
I am aware of two guys (Mr RobinHood & Mr WindyR) who are having troubles with connecting via their phones. Not aware of any other people reporting unresolved problems. Let me know if there are.

I am going to release a new version tonight with the Feed Cycles code put back in and a start to the Inhabitants Database.

Still looking for a creative type volunteer to come up with some icon designs for Controllers, Feed Cycle, and Inhabitants icons. The look and feel will take a significant downturn if I do it :).

edit - oops, this is the wrong thread, I should be on the other thread with the screen shots of the newer app.

I am a not a computer guru...this guy is a sad man..can someone PM me and help me with setting up my Android phone. I have everything I need to set it up, I just don't know where I need to put it in the slots given during setup on the phone..Yes, I know I am a Putz..Im a paramedic and can save a life, but when it comes to this stuff I feel like my 15 month old is smarter..lol
 
Can you get to the controller web page from the browser on your phone? This task is usually the most challenging part.

Once you can do that the android app is very easy.

Do you mean just typing in the local routers IP address in my internet browser? If so then yes, I have no problem with that. This is what I do and this is just a random IP..
66.345.7.145 Then at the end of that the Neptune guy has it so I have to put in a 4 number code following a colon so it would look like this
66.345.7.145:4567

Then I would have to put in admin and 1234 and I would have access. It just on the setup page for the apex on the ap I just want to make sure I am doing it correctly.

Meant to say in the last sentence I want to make sure I enter everything correctly in the android application setup page.

whatever your wifi name is for the SSID

Warning though that your ISP may change your public facing IP address to something different than 66.345.7.145 at any time. People around here are using Dynamic DNS to assign themselves a user friendly domain name that is always up to date. Take a look at the sticky user guide for more info on dyn dns.

Up and running..question..it is showing my temp and Ph and amps..but when I click on it, it brings me to the screen where I can click my controller, but then it forces a close and shuts down..Restarted the phone and now it just shows loading on the screen. Says loading apex status
