I was hoping this thread would help fellow reefers be more careful of buying used equipment not for bashing on one person. Just saying. In general I have met some hands down awesome people associated with Reef Central. I hope this one experience will not stop fellow reefers from buying/trading. I myself enjoy this part of the hobby. Let's keep it positive guys.

I don't think it will ruin people buying used equipment. If you don't know the person always ask someone else if they do. Another way to avoid a disaster when dealing local is to plug the item or piece of equipment in with the seller and the buyer there at the same time.

Xaiz0r & Morganfbs--It sucks that you've had bad experiences w/ this guy. Most folks on RC are stand up, good people; & I hope this experience doesn't stop you from buying/selling more on here. If that seller doesn't resolve this to your liking, you might start up a thread in the buyer/seller feedback forum & make others aware of the sellers shady character & business dealings; so others can make better informed decisions whether to do business w/ the guy or not. We may be spread all over the state, but RC is still a pretty small community & word travels about bad reefers. This hobby is too expensive (& times are too rough) to knowingly screw someone out of their hard earned money (& not make it right), & everyone should be informed about the sketchy ones. Plus, it's a good idea to read that forum anyway. Good luck!! & remember--what goes around, comes back around...Karma is a bee-atch!!

Could have not said it better and yet some people lie about stuff knowingly trying to cover what is wrong and what the intention was. We all make mistakes but actions speak louder than words cuz that's all people do is talk talk talk.
Then the seller uses the exusse of "hey you bought it on the street not a store"
If your going to use that line please leave the fourm where we could enjoy the hobby with actually honest people that would fix the issue even if it was an mistake it happens it's what we do to make it right.

Now it seems like there is just a few people that don't care and would turn this hobby into trying to rip people off every penny!

But again this is my opinion some might agree and other will not but it's just a sad thing to see.

RC should have a feedback system on the users profile that rate them straight from the profile sortof like eBay.
Because seems like more people are treating RC as craigslist SOME people again there is quite a few good folks on here.
I made deals with Many members on here. Those of you that do the right thing keep up the good work!
You guys know who you are. Others reading this doing shady things you
Guys really don't have any conscience or guilt to make it right! :headwallblue:

Btw I think we should have a local buyer/seller feedback thread.
By doing this would prevent more incidents since it's local.

Reef 2 Reef has a feedback raiting on your profile where people can put comments and rate transactions like ebay. Its a nice idea.

I think the mods should lock this until Steven can make his case with the OP and then see where things are at then. Just my 2 cents

I've kept my mouth shut up to now. But I agree with you 100% here ^. There's always two sides to a story. I'm sorry that the op believes he got screwed in this deal, and I hope that the seller works something out with the buyer. Ive dealt with the seller on a couple of occasions and everything went smooth because I'm careful and make sure and double check when I buy something used. But as much as there are shady sellers, in this hobby, there's also shady buyers who wants refunds back just because they believe they've found a better deal after the transaction or even some buyers who tests an item out in person and when they get home, wether the items broken or not after the transaction, a refund is wanted for whatever reason. Some even want a refund after they broke the item themselves. I've had that all happen. i'm not saying that this is the case with the op, I'm just generalizing. Hopefully Steven can work something out with the op and clear up this mess.

Suggestion to op: I don't know how you've been dealing with the guy (and I'm NOT making assumptions and I'm NOT saying that you've done any of this, just sayin in general) it never helps the situation by bein a jerk to someone or even start harassing them through phone or text and throwing out personal attacks/ name calling etc. Even nice guys sometimes say "screw this" when the other person starts talking sh*t to them. Try being nice and reason with the guy. And try working out something that's fair for both of you. Not saying that you haven't tried to be nice or reasonable, I'm just throwing out an idea that might help.

Great suggestion and probably what should've and needs to be done. I don't think there's anything wrong with starting a thread in his local forum and warning others, but this thread has gone way beyond that. A thread in a guys local forum so others locally can talk crap about a guy and their personal issues with him and what their opinion is of his character and so on, is probably not going to get the issue at hand resolved. I'm just sayin.......
